Breakthrough Leadership Supports Fair Housing Through Community Voice and Strategic Engagement

Breakthrough Leadership Foundation supported the great work of the Greater Memphis Housing Justice Project during their weeklong canvassing initiative across Memphis housing communities — designed to elevate tenant experiences and inform equitable housing solutions.
This effort reflects a shared commitment to data-informed community engagement — ensuring that the lived experiences of residents are not only heard, but positioned to influence policy, accountability, and system-level change.

Through direct outreach, we canvassed tenants for meaningful conversations around:

Housing affordability and stability
Property conditions and maintenance responsiveness
Communication and transparency with management
Overall quality of life within their communities
The Greater Memphis Housing Justice Project continues to lead with a clear mission:
To advance fair housing practices, protect tenant rights, and ensure access to safe, dignified, and equitable housing across Memphis.

This work is critical for data-informed community engagement. By supporting engagement efforts that center tenant voices, we help bridge the gap between community reality and institutional response.

We extend our appreciation to every resident who took the time to speak with us. Your insights are essential to shaping a more accountable and equitable housing landscape in Memphis. This is what leadership in action requires.

Help Memphis Residents Move From Training to Employees.

Little by Little Breakthrough Leadership Foundation serves unemployed and underemployed residents across Memphis through our Workforce Program in a big way. Participants gain career readiness and hands-on, project-based experience that mirrors real workplace expectations —collaborating, meeting deadlines, solving problems, and producing real work. Participants leave sessions with industry-ready portfolios, practical skills, and renewed confidence. Through partnerships with hiring agencies and employers, many participants connect to livable-wage opportunities and internships within days of completing training. During the GlobalGiving Little by Little Campaign (March 17–20), donations up to $50 may be matched by 50% while funds last. The talent is here. We introduce employers to untapped potential. Breakthrough Leadership Foundation is proud to partner with the Warriors Center to strengthen workforce preparation for underserved residents across the Greater MidSouth.

Through this collaboration, participants gain structured training that builds essential workplace skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and accountability.

This partnership expands access to training space, community support, and employer pipeline connections, helping more individuals prepare for employment, apprenticeships, internships, and long-term career advancement.

Together, we are working to reduce barriers to workforce participation and create clearer pathways to economic opportunity for the communities we serve.

I’m pleased to share that I recently completed the Talent Pipeline Management (TPM) Academy and passed the summative assessment through the TPM Co/Lab program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. The program was hosted by the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce.

Here in Memphis, I see talented people every day who simply need a clear pathway — not more talk, but real opportunity.

Through my work with Breakthrough Leadership Foundation Inc., this training strengthens our ability to build stronger bridges between education, skills development, and actual careers — creating workforce pipelines that lead to employment, ownership, and long-term stability.
