Love Doesn't Hurt We work with survivors to from obstacles to stability. If you have any questions about how you can help please email [email protected].

Love Doesn’t Hurt provides trauma-informed crisis intervention, housing stabilization, and supportive services to individuals impacted by violence, victimization, and compounded challenges. The agency helps to provide assistance to victims of crime in the LGBTQ+ Community to provide emergency shelter, transportation, food, clothing and relocation for those in Shelby County area. Through the assistance of our partner agencies we have been able to reach out and educate those in the community of the impact that violence in the LGBTQ Community has taken in the Mid-South. We hold an annual event to help fund the Love Doesn't Hurt Fund but donations can also be given at any time to help assist our clients.

August is Black Philanthropy Month, a time to celebrate the power of Black generosity, leadership, community, and collective investment.

Today, August 28, Love Doesn’t Hurt is proud to participate in Give 8/28, a national day of giving dedicated to uplifting and investing in Black-led and Black-benefiting nonprofit organizations.

At Love Doesn’t Hurt, your support helps us continue showing up for survivors and community members with resources that move people toward safety, healing, stability, and self-sufficiency.

And your impact doesn’t have to end after Give 8/28.

💼❤️ MEMPHIS SHOWED UP AND WERKED TODAY! ❤️💼

Today we hosted our WERK Job & Resource Fair, and seeing so many organizations come together in one space to connect our community with opportunities and resources was exactly why we created this event.

Because here's the thing:

Sometimes someone doesn't just need a job.

They may need transportation to GET to the job.

They may need stable housing so they can KEEP the job.

They may need clothes to feel confident walking into the interview.

They may need healthcare, mental health support, victim services, or help navigating systems that can feel overwhelming when you're trying to do it alone.

And sometimes they simply need someone to say, “Come over here. Let me show you where to start.”

That's what WERK was about. ❤️

Today, people had an opportunity to connect directly with employers, staffing agencies, workforce development programs, housing resources, transportation resources, healthcare and supportive service providers, victim service organizations, and so much more all in one place.

And we even got to mix in some self-care with professional headshots, haircuts, and other services! 🙌🏾

I am incredibly grateful to every organization that showed up, every volunteer who gave their time, everyone who helped us spread the word, and every person who trusted us enough to walk through those doors today.
Community work isn't one organization trying to do everything.

It's organizations recognizing what each of us brings to the table and figuring out how we can bring those tables together.
Today, we did exactly that.

We had over 150 attendees.
Provided mobile showers for 14 people
Provided haircuts, hand and lip scrubs to 20 people

We’re excited to share that ShowerUp will be joining us at the WERK Job & Resource Fair!

ShowerUp provides mobile showers and personal care services for individuals experiencing homelessness and housing instability helping people access something many of us can easily take for granted: the opportunity to feel clean, refreshed, and cared for. ❤️

And on August 26, they’ll be right there with us!

Attendees can come to WERK to:

💼 Connect with employers and staffing agencies
🏠 Learn about housing and transitional housing resources
🚿 Access ShowerUp services
📸 Get a professional headshot
💇🏾 Access haircuts and other personal care services
🤝 Connect with organizations offering supportive services

We want WERK to address more than one need. Come as you are and connect with what you need.

We’re excited to have Pearl With You joining us at the WERK Job & Resource Fair!

Pearl With You provides transitional housing, helping individuals who need support as they work toward greater housing stability and independence.
