Yesterday was a somber day, remembering and reflecting on the attacks of September 11th. I ended the night at the American Legion Merrimack Memorial Post 98 where a heartfelt Remembrance Ceremony was held to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001 and honor the courage and sacrifice of our first responders and military personnel.

I will never forget where I was or how I felt on September 11th. Although it was a terrible, dark day in our nation’s history, there was still light to be found. I will always remember the strength, courage, and resilience our country demonstrated in the moments, days and months after the attacks. Regardless of political affiliation, religion or race, Americans stood together to support one another and rebuild. This feeling of comradery was palpable throughout the country, providing that we can get through even the darkest times when we stand united.

Today, on September 12th, it is that feeling of unity that gives me strength and hope. Though politics and media feel increasingly divisive, there is more that unites us than divides us. In Merrimack, I see this as members of our community coordinate food and school supply drives to help those in need, while others help drivers with flat tires or kids who have fallen off their bikes. These simple acts of kindness create ripples that spread throughout our community. I invite you all to join me in spreading kindness to light a candle to the darkness. 💙

Thank you to everyone who voted in the primaries!! Yesterday, I saw the spirit of Merrimack turn up at the polls. There were newly registered MHS students and graduates, parents bringing young children, people voting before and after work as well as our senior citizens who were all there to make their voices heard. I listened to people share their concerns and as well as their hopes for our future and appreciate all who took the time to speak with me.

Preliminary results show over 5,000 voters cast ballots, with over 100 new voter registrations yesterday in Merrimack alone. While this number represents a small percentage of our registered voters, it was a larger turnout than usual on Primary Day. I believe this is because people are ready for a change. They are sick of the divisiveness and ineffectiveness of partisan politics and frustrated with legislation that continues to increase property taxes for hard working families and seniors while providing tax relief and handouts to businesses and the wealthy.

I am running to help bring change and will work to pass legislation that adequately funds public education and essential services such as affordable housing and childcare without placing the burden onto property taxpayers and future generations. There is a lot of work ahead of us. However, I believe electing candidates who truly listen and want to improve the quality of life in their communities will get the job done.

My daughter also came with me to vote yesterday and was excited to wear the inflatable capybara costume I bought for one of our school’s fundraisers. So, I will share this video of her dancing capybara as a reminder: DON’T WORRY, BE ‘CAPPY’ and VOTE on November 3rd!! 🗳️🗳️

Great news from the NH House today regarding the defeat of the Open Enrollment bill (SB101). I’m proud to be one of the many Granite Staters who testified against this bill and appreciate everyone who took the time to call, write or show up in person to defend NH public schools.

The NH House defeated SB 101 (open enrollment) on a bipartisan vote of 168-184. Thank you to NH legislators who stood with public school students across our state.
