Village of Metamora

10/28/2026

The pumpkins are out, the leaves are changing, and it’s almost time for our little ghosts and goblins to hit the Metamora streets for trick or treating! 🎃🍂👻

Trick or Treat hours in the Village of Metamora are 5-8 p.m. this Saturday, October 31! 🍬

A few friendly reminders to help everyone have a safe and fun Halloween:

🔦 For Parents & Trusted Adults:
- Encourage your little ones to hold a flashlight or wear glow sticks for extra visibility.
- Walk on sidewalks when available. If there's no sidewalk, walk on the far edge of the road, facing traffic.

🚗 For Motorists:
- Please slow down, stay alert, and watch carefully for children crossing streets and walking between houses.

Following Saturday we first want to say, a big THANK YOU to our sponsors, Conxxus: MTCO Communications and Illinois Prairie District Public Library for helping make this event possible! Also THANK YOU to Metamora Parks and Recreation for hosting alongside us, and for the s’mores, of course! We loved seeing so many families out in the park enjoying s’mores, popcorn, and mini golf together. 🍿

We also want to apologize for the technical difficulties that delayed the start of Hocus Pocus. We know this was frustrating, and we’re sorry to those who headed home before we unexpectedly were able to get it up and running. A special thank you to everyone who offered to help troubleshoot the issues, and to the good Samaritan in the crowd who helped us get the movie playing after we initially thought we were going to have to cancel.

Although the evening didn’t go quite as planned, we’re grateful for everyone’s patience, understanding, willingness to help, and for a beautiful fall evening in the park. 🍂

Have some old tires laying around and not sure what to do with them? 🛞

Here’s your opportunity to dispose of them. Thank you, Woodford County Health Department!

Join Us for a Free Tire Collection Event!

According to the Illinois EPA, residents of Illinois generate over 14 million used tires each year! Improperly discarded tires can become breeding grounds for disease-carrying insects, especially mosquitoes.
To support the “Fight the Bite” initiative,” we are hosting a FREE Public Tire Collection on Monday, October 26, 2026. This event is open to Woodford County residents ONLY.

Limit 12 tires per household/address
