The Covid 19 is exposing many underlying issues facing right now as it has put stresses on , , , and . Those who were lucky enough to keep a job this whole time have had to juggle with what to do with their children as they were forced to continue to during an international pandemic. Those who were fired or furloughed were forced to juggle between and food even as the couple of rounds of added benefits kept expiring and are now being cut.

You know what didn’t expire? Rent payments, , car payments, , etc. Being given two months notice of during an pandemic exemplifies the criminality of and the parasitic relations which are embodied within it (the landlord-tenant relation being just one of them). We cannot count on the “good hearts” of people caught in the role of these toxic . Just as capitalists are concerned with capital, landlords are as well, in the form of rent and the courts are on their side!

It’s deeper than just a law or policy, it’s a societal question. The private ownership of land - and anything on it - is an integral pillar of how capitalism organizes society in its interests to ensure its continued rule. We’d like to thank everyone for coming out to last night’s film screening and presentation on Proletarian Internationalism and the need to construct our organizations in the US today. As we commemorate this MAY DAY, we reflect that the history leading this International Worker’s Day, is a rich history of struggle-unity-strugge, a history of working class combativity and organization.

May Day is not a day for celebration as is, but for commemoration, for building on our deep history of struggle against capitalism, the capitalist class, and the capitalist state apparatus. It was the working class that led the fights that gave us the 8 hour workday, pulled children out of the mines, and forced other concessions on the capitalists, their state and their corporations.

Working class struggle has always pushed society forward for all exploited and dominated classes, including the petite-bourgeoisie. It is more important than ever that workers pick up their historic task and responsibilities to combat our common capitalist enemy, based on our collective class interests, so we can build our genuine alternative to this capitalist nightmare.

Let’s affirm our history with May Day 2021 by building on it and building our organizations and movement, we need. It all starts with a conversation, so reach out to us today!

We invite you to a screening of the documentary—Batay La—shot about our brothers and sisters in the combative and autonomous Haitian working class movement Batay Ouvriye (which also means “Workers Struggle”).

Batay Ouvriye is an example of workers’ organizations building autonomous combative structures and waging struggle against capital.

Workers Struggle is presenting this film on the night of April 30th because it is May Day’s Eve. We believe that May Day is always a time to build our autonomous organizations.

The political organization of the working class is more important than ever as the global pandemic rages on and capitalists increase their offensive against the working class. The workers in Batay Ouvriye are showing the world the least of what has to be done.

We workers and laborers must organize ourselves in all countries into combative movements, autonomous from any capitalist interests and structures, so that we can build our collective power to transform the world. No one else can see this task through, it’s our responsibility!

Joining us from Haiti will be Yannick Etienne. Yannick is a Batay Ouvriye organizer who narrates the film, and she will share her perspective on organizing and struggling against capitalism/imperialism, the importance of proletarian internationalism, the need for a combative autonomous working class movement, building some badass unions and more (followed by a Q&A session). Our presentations will be recorded but not the q&a portions.

There will also be a discussion on Proletarian Internationalism and need to for our class to organize here, in the belly of the beast.

Well will be sharing a GoFundMe link in the days to come to raise money for the workers in BO towards their organizing efforts. Donations are not required to participate but are encouraged. See ya then!

Capital has no concern for our national origin, our skin color, or our s*x. Capital exploits labor wherever the two exist. Our interests are collective, our cause is one! The most exploited workers in this hemisphere—who receive the lowest wages for producing the most — work in the factories of Haiti. Daily wages in these factories amount to about 4 US dollars!

On July 31, 2020, workers at the Haitian firm Palm Apparel (a “ Brands” subcontractor) held a mass funeral for one of their co-workers, Sandra Rene, who died on July 19, 2020 because of , and Palm Apparel, a sweatshop in Carrefour owned by capitalist Alain Villard. She was 30 years old and 6 months pregnant. She died, along with the child shed was denied medical care during an international pandemic, something that should have made worldwide headlines! She was turned away from the hospital because , where she worked for over 10 years, stole her health insurance payments along with those of all of its workers. OFATMA – the state insurance provider – refused to cover Sandra’s care.

The basic aspirations and desires of the workers throughout the world are the same. Every worker in every country shares the same class interests, all workers produce value which becomes wealth for the factory/company owners (capitalists).
It is the responsibility of our class to reach out, support, unite, and coordinate our as one class spread out around the world with a unified fist. Proletarian ( ) Internationalism is essential to the interests of our class.
Just as water flows to its lowest level, so do wages, if the most exploited among us are left without international action from their fellow workers we are abandoning our responsibilities to our sisters and brothers. Yesterday afternoon, declared May "Older Americans Month". This reflects a history of capitalists knowingly attempting to erase the of workers struggles. Today, May 1st (aka ), is known as International Worker's Day due to a long historic struggle of the working class. Since the events that lead to this workers holiday, the has done the following; in 1894 President Grover Cleveland made "Labor Day" in the US in September. In 1958 Congress made May 1st "Loyalty Day" and that same year President Dwight D. Eisenhower made it "Law Day”.

Throughout this whole , has shown us its incapacity to meet the most basic needs for society although there exists enough to resources to feed, clothe and care for every human being. Who's benefiting from this societal arrangement? The capitalists have also shown their intense hatred of the masses to open up the at all costs including an executive order to force meat packing plants to remain open as farmers destroy food and workers LITERALLY DIE! is a social order for capital and capitalists, and they'll do anything to keep us disorganized. This May Day, let's acknowledge our condition and think about the kind of world we really want to see and build.
