As I walk out of the chambers for the last time as District 5 Commissioner, I’m overcome with emotion and gratitude. It has truly been the honor of a lifetime to serve the residents of District 5 since 2018.
Over the past years, I’ve loved working on the issues that shape our community — from affordable housing and transit to protecting our environment, supporting small businesses, fighting for workers’ rights, and so much more.
Thank you for your trust, your partnership, and your belief in what we can achieve when we work together. This isn’t goodbye — it’s see you soon 💙

It wouldn’t be Halloween without our annual Howl-O-Ween at the Downtown Dog Spot! 🐾🎃 Our Downtown neighbors and their four-legged friends showed up and showed out with the cutest costumes 👻🐶
I love seeing our community come together and enjoy this vibrant space — once just an empty area beneath the Metromover, now a place full of life, laughter, and wagging tails! 💕🐕

Films have the power to connect us, heal us, and open our hearts 🎬💙 Last Saturday I joined for the Reel Minds Film Festival, a celebration of storytelling and mental health awareness. The event showcased powerful short films inspired by the real lives of those impacted by mental illness — stories of courage, recovery, and hope.
Thank you to NAMI for bringing our community together through the art of film and for your tireless work to make mental health a shared priority across Miami-Dade County 💫

When I first launched the Driver’s License Suspension Task Force in 2020, we faced a staggering reality: nearly 1/3 of Miami-Dade residents had suspended driver’s licenses, often for unpaid fines or fees not related to dangerous driving.
Today, I’m proud to share the incredible progress we’ve made: the number of suspended licenses has dropped by 73%, from 915,424 in 2022 to just 246,676 in 2025.
With our partners at the Clerk of Court and Comptroller’s Office, State Attorney’s Office, Public Defender’s Office, the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, and law enforcement agencies, we’ve transformed a broken system into a national model for reform.
Thousands of residents have regained their licenses, collections have become more efficient and fair, and families across our community now have better access to work, school, and opportunity. This is what happens when government works together with purpose 💪
