The 841st Engineer Battalion was constituted on 16 July 1942 as the 841st Engineer Battalion, Aviation. During September 1942, the Battalion was ordered to active duty in the Pacific Theater of Operations. The Battalion earned Streamers for the New Guinea, Archipelago, and Bismarck Campaigns of WW II. nactivated. In August 1948, the Battalion was allotted to the Organized Reserve Corps, known today as the Army Reserve, and assigned to the Third United States Army. It was activated on 14 September 1948 with Headquarters in Miami, Florida. During June 1951, the Battalion deployed to the Korean conflict. The 841st embarked on 2 June 1952, and arrived at Inchon, Korea on 23 June 1952. The Battalion returned to the U.S. on 16 February 1955, and was relieved from duty on 26 February 1955. The Battalion earned Streamers for its operation in the Summer-Fall 1952 Campaign, the Third Korean Winter Campaign, and the summer 1953 Campaign. In January 1957, the Battalion's designation was changed from an Engineer Aviation Battalion to a Heavy Construction Battalion, headquartered in Miami, Florida. On 1 January 1960, the Battalion was again reorganized and designated a Construction Battalion. On 15 January 1963, the 841st became a Combat Engineer Battalion. Hurricane Andrew struck Miami-Dade County in August 1992 and the 841st was the first federal military unit to join the relief efforts. The Battalion provided Dade County Civil Defense and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) with its first engineer guidance and support. The 841st Engineer Battalion was mobilized to Fort Stewart in March 2003. The unit validated and was ready to deploy to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. On 28 April 2003, the Battalion's mission was canceled due to the end of major hostilities. On 16 May 2003, the unit was re-missioned under Operation Noble Eagle in support of the XVIII Airborne Corps where it conducted Port Support Activity Operations in Jacksonville, FL, Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC. The unit returned to home station on 14 March 2004. On 16 November 2006, the 841st Combat Engineer Battalion was alerted for deployment. Bravo company (Beast) deployed on 22 May 2007 to Iraq. In addition, a platoon size element was cross leveled to the 478th Engineer Battalion to deploy to Iraq. Finally, an Explosives Hazard Coordination Cell (EHCC) was formed and deployed on 19 July 2007. These units returned to home station in June and July 2008 respectively. In 2008, the 841 Engineer Battalion was reorganized as a modular Engineer Battalion. Alpha Company was redesignated as the Forward Support Company and relocated to Miami, FL; Bravo Company was inactivated and was replaced with the 689 EN CO (Route Clearance); Charlie Company was inactivated and replaced with the 758 EN CO (Vertical). The 766 EN CO (Horizontal) was activated and stationed in Ft Lauderdale. On 2 February 2011, 841st Engineer Battalion mobilized and deployed to form Task Force Hurricane. In Afghanistan, Task Force Hurricane provided combat and construction engineering effects, and established Afghan National Army (ANA) engineering development cells in Regional Command North in order to improve security, development, and governance of the Government Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. The Battalion completely redeployed in February of 2013. 841st Engineer Battalion continues to stand proud and ready to answer the Nation's call!
