We rang in 2026 together at Bayfront Park with an unforgettable night of music, fireworks, and community. 🎉 I joined Commissioners Pardo and Gabela to welcome thousands downtown. Before the countdown, I had the honor of thanking our Miami police officers at roll call. While many celebrated, they were on duty protecting our city—and for that, we are deeply grateful.

I recently met with our newly elected colleague, Commissioner Rolando Escalona, to discuss key quality of life issues impacting our community, including noise concerns, illegal dumping, and preserving and expanding our tree canopy.
We also had a productive conversation about improving government transparency and efficiency, as well as strategies for neighborhood revitalization. Together, we will continue to collaboratively work towards solutions that strengthen our neighborhoods!

Me reuní recientemente con nuestro colega recién electo, el comisionado Rolando Escalona, para conversar sobre temas clave de calidad de vida que afectan a nuestra comunidad, incluyendo el ruido, el vertido ilegal de basura y la preservación y expansión de nuestro dosel arbóreo.
También tuvimos una conversación productiva sobre cómo mejorar la transparencia y la eficiencia del gobierno, así como sobre estrategias para la revitalización de los vecindarios. Juntos, seguiremos trabajando de manera colaborativa en soluciones que fortalezcan nuestras comunidades.

I had a great time catching up with on This Week in South Florida, sharing a little about our first day in office!
My commitment is simple: We're going to run City Hall in a way that treats our residents like our customers. We're going to streamline permitting, identify and eliminate the bottlenecks, and get City Hall working for the people again.

We hit the ground running on our first day in office.
Today, Mayor Eileen officially onboarded and spent several hours meeting with the City Manager and senior staff to get a comprehensive overview of City departments and priorities. She also interviewed candidates for Communications Director to ensure our team is set up to better serve residents.
She also joined a community toy drive with our CRA team—ending day one focused on families and the holiday spirit.
Ready to get to work!

Arrancamos con todo en nuestro primer día en el cargo.
Hoy, la alcaldesa Eileen completó oficialmente su incorporación y pasó varias horas reuniéndose con el Administrador de la Ciudad y el equipo directivo para tener una visión general completa de los departamentos y prioridades de la Ciudad.
También entrevistó a candidatos para el puesto de Director/a de Comunicaciones, para asegurar que nuestro equipo esté listo para servir mejor a los residentes.
Esta noche, se unió a una colecta comunitaria de juguetes junto a nuestro equipo de la CRA, cerrando el primer día con las familias y el espíritu navideño como prioridad.
