First it was “Taxpayers First.” After we called out the disconnect between our opponents’ slogan and tax bills that keep climbing, their latest ad flashes “Middletown First.”

New slogan. Same question: What does it actually mean for you?

Does it mean lower tax bills? Better roads? Thoughtful long-term planning? More transparency? Changing the words doesn’t answer the questions.

Ours is simple: You Deserve Better.

No empty promises. Just three honest words reminding you that you deserve officials who listen, explain their decisions, and welcome questions. New voices can bring fresh ideas, independent judgment, and accountability to Middletown.

This November, vote Jeremy Seideman and Shawn Wallach for Township Committee. You deserve better.

Our vision for Middletown is a place where everyone is safe and can be their authentic selves. That is why we are proud and honored to have received endorsements from Garden State Equality and the Monmouth County Democrats LGBTQ+ Caucus, because they know that we will always be allies to the community.

"You're only two people. What can you actually do?"

A Middletown voter asked us this, and it's a fair question. Here's our answer. 👇

Right now all five seats on the Township Committee belong to one party. When that happens, the real conversations happen before the public meeting even starts, in executive sessions or behind closed doors. By the time residents see a vote, the decision has already been made. Nobody makes a motion against it, and there's no debate.

Two seats change that.

✅ We can make motions and second each other's motions. That forces a debate onto the live stream and into the public meeting, where any resident can watch and comment. Today those conversations only happen in a room you're not invited into.

✅ We have a say on bonds. It takes four votes to pass a municipal bond. If we're both elected, the majority has to convince at least one of us that the spending is really needed, and they have to do it in public.

Transparency doesn't come from being in charge. It comes from having people at the table who will ask the questions out loud.

Watch the full answer in the video, and if you have a question for us, drop it in the comments. We'll answer it.

🗳️ Vote Shawn & Jeremy for Middletown Township Committee on November 3.

A Middletown voter asked us something we hear at nearly every door:
"Every time I turn around, there's another giant housing development popping up. The traffic, the impact on schools… Is there a plan?"
The honest answer: no.
Just this week, a court-approved settlement opened the door to up to 450 townhomes on the Circus Liquors / Calico property on Route 35, 68 of them affordable units. It stems from a lawsuit the developer filed in 2023, and a judge ordered the Township to settle.
This keeps happening because the Township declared it would not comply with the Mount Laurel doctrine. So builders sue, and the courts decide our zoning. Our zoning board no longer has a say in what goes where.
Until that changes, we'll keep seeing big developments with no rhyme or reason. Middletown needs a real long-term plan, and residents deserve a voice in how our town grows.
