🚲 RIDE SAFE TO SCHOOL! 🛴

Student safety is a top priority at Fife Public Schools! As more students use bikes, e-bikes, and scooters to travel to and from school, we want to remind our families & caregivers of some important safety expectations and restrictions on district property.

✅ What's Allowed? Regular bicycles, Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes, and stand-up electric scooters.

🚫 What's Not Allowed? Class 3 e-bikes (unless specifically authorized), electric dirt bikes (including Sur-Ron, Talaria, etc.), electric motorcycles, mini-bikes, mopeds, and gas-powered scooters.

🪖 Safety First! All riders must wear helmets, follow traffic laws, walk their bikes or scooters once on campus, and secure them in designated storage areas.

We've put together a quick reference guide here outlining what's allowed, what's not, and the expectations for safely traveling to school. Note: This guidance does not apply to approved mobility devices under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Please review the information provided with your student to help keep our campuses safe for everyone! Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students and school communities safe!

🧡 Every Child Matters 🧡

Today, staff and students across Fife Public Schools wore orange in recognition of Orange Shirt Day. By wearing orange, our district stood together in support of truth, healing, and reconciliation, and affirmed the enduring belief that Every Child Matters.

THANK YOU to all of our staff and students who participated - with special thanks to Otellie Trujillo, Native American Education Program Coordinator, for her leadership in this important event.

Our September School Board meeting included several opportunities to celebrate our students, staff, and programs!

We welcomed Jayden Bjorkman, who was officially sworn in as our new junior Student Representative to the School Board. Congratulations, Jayden - we look forward to the perspective you’ll bring to the Board this year.

The Board also heard a presentation from Otellie Trujillo, Native American Education Program Coordinator, highlighting the many ways the program supports the cultural and educational needs of Native American students from preschool through 12th grade, including Fife Open Doors. From academic support and culturally responsive learning opportunities to Native Circle Club, Powwow Fit, leadership development, and collaboration around the Since Time Immemorial curriculum, the program continues to strengthen connections between culture, identity, and learning. A special thank you to the students who also shared their voices and experiences with the Board. Their personal perspectives brought the impact of this program to life.

And finally, one of our favorite September traditions! Building and department leaders introduced many of the new staff members joining Fife Public Schools this year. We’re excited to have them as part of our Fife Public Schools community!
