BUDGET TOWN HALL TONIGHT!

This evening I will be cohosting a budget town hall with Sup. Steve Shea. Here are the details:
South Shore Pavilion
5-7pm

Some of the most immediate issues:
- Funding and service changes being planned for Milwaukee County Transit System
- The recently passed ban on Flock Cameras in Milwaukee County Parks
- The funding of the new safety building and courthouse remodel
- Milwaukee County Parks: 2 New playgrounds in District 4 slated for 2027, including Copernicus Park (funded in 2026) and Maitland Park (scheduled to be funded in this budget).
- Budget priorities should changes in the Madison legislature give us the opportunity to prioritize funding local governments for the first time in 20 years!

Including this one, there are two upcoming budget town halls:
1) TONIGHT! Milwaukee County Supervisor Steven Shea and I will be cohosting a town hall at South Shore Pavilion from 5-7 (I will stay later if there are still folks with questions).

2) On October 12th County Supervisor Caroline Gómez-Tom is hosting a budget town hall with myself and several other Supervisors at Kosciusko Community Center from 5-7pm.

Come make your voice heard this Thursday from 5-7pm at South Shore Park Pavilion.

- Milwaukee County just authorized the replacement of the jail, and refurbishment of the historic courthouse.

- Milwaukee County Transit System will be present to take public feedback and answer questions on the MCTS redesign.

- Milwaukee County Parks has a record number of projects funded, including Copernicus Park playground and Maitland Park playground!

County Executive Crowley is officially unveiling his 2027 budget tomorrow, and I will be co-hosting two upcoming budget town halls on October 8th and 12th where residents can weigh in and ask questions.

Some of the most immediate issues:

CALLING ALL MCTS RIDERS - ESPECIALLY MPS PARENTS AND STUDENTS!

Milwaukee County Transit System is currently taking public feedback on their proposed redesign of our public transit system. The full list of their open houses will be included below, but here are three opportunities to weigh in:

1) MCTS Listening Session
Friday, September 25th. 3-5pm
Bay View Public Library

2) Budget Town with County Supervisors Jack Eckblad and Milwaukee County Supervisor Steven Shea
Thursday, October 8th. 5-7pm

I want to lift up the fantastic work of our amazing Milwaukee County Audit staff who put together the Open Audit Recommendations (OAR) Dashboard. This is an insightful and easy-to-use tool that allows anyone to see at a glance which audits of Milwaukee County are still open, what progress has been made, and what progress has yet to be accomplished.

What kinds of audits can you monitor?
- The Audit of the County Jail after deaths occurred there.
- The Audit of Milwaukee County Transit and MCTS governance structure.
