I am so looking forward to partnering with CM Whiting toward our shared goal of thriving Minneapolis Public Schools! CM Whiting has shown his dedication toward our public school students through his role as Washburn coach, and he has already been showing up for our public schools in meaningful ways. I am grateful for his support and excited to work together for the strong schools his future MPS student & our current MPS students deserve!

Nokomis Area neighbors- come out *this Wednesday October 7th* to join neighbors for an open house. Learn more about the MPS Transformation Plan & how to get involved to have your voice heard on the future of our school district!

Drop in to the McRae Rec Center gym between 5:30 & 7:30 for opportunities to talk with caregivers, neighborhood orgs, educators, candidates, & elected officials.

Yesterday I attended a community feedback session hosted by MPS Leadership. The dissent in the room was overwhelming. Clearly our community does not support this “Transformation Plan!”

Yesterday I was proud to stand with MFE 59 - Minneapolis Federation of Educators in support of our public schools! The speeches from our MPS community about why their schools are so foundational to their community were moving and emotional. Particularly the remarks from Wellstone and Longfellow students struck me. Our schools provide more than just a learning experience, they provide safety and support to us all.

Last Thursday we attended a Community Open House to hear from community how they were processing this MPS "Transformation Plan." Thank you to the Longfellow Community Council and Seward Neighborhood Group for putting this on!

Spending the night listening to our neighbors was powerful. The common feeling that kept coming up? Everyone from parents to caregivers, guidance counselors and teachers, students as well are feeling hurt and left behind right now.

We cannot move forward with this plan! Come to the next Community Open House so we can hear from you too! McRae Park Gym on 10/7, 5:30-7:30PM.
