Check out this fundraiser for Minneapolis Boys' and Girls High School Hockey featuring a live performance by Martin Zellar on Oct. 21!

Minneapolis High School Hockey Fans, have we got a treat for you!

The Boys and Girls High School teams are excited to host Minnesota’s own Martin Zellar for an intimate concert in the heart of Minneapolis on the evening of October 21.

Martin is a singer-songwriter who many of you may recall from his time with Gear Daddies, which recorded perhaps the best hockey song of all time, “(I Wanna Drive The) Zamboni.”

We feel so lucky to have Martin join us for what will be an awesome way to celebrate the start of hockey season.

Here are the details:

Bring your beverage and chair to the 5100 block of Belmont Avenue South (not far from Washburn High School).

The Social Hour begins at 5:30 and Martin will take the stage at 6:30.

All friends of Minneapolis Hockey are welcome and the RSVP link is in the comments.

The teams suggest a $50 donation per person, but any amount is greatly appreciated.

Cash, check, and Venmo are all accepted.

All donations will benefit both the Boys and Girls High School Hockey teams.

We can’t wait to see you - don’t you dare miss it!

🗳️ A constitutional amendment on this fall’s ballot could increase funding for Minnesota public schools. 🗳️

The amendment would change how the Permanent School Fund distributes money to public schools, and the change would not raise taxes.

Explore the facts, review the ballot question and understand how the amendment could affect Minnesota’s public schools before voting this election. Please note: Leaving the question blank counts as a “no” vote.

Thank you to everyone who made Let’s Roll MPS - Southside a huge success this year! About 300 students, staff and volunteers biked through the beautiful streets and trails of Minneapolis, leaving laughter, smiles and joy in our wake. We are so proud of our students, who biked 4 to 20 miles during Let’s Roll MPS.

A special thank you to our co-hosts at Sullivan STEAM School and Anishinabe Academy, and the fabulous Teddies and Tigers swim team; to our dear friends in MPS Emergency Management, Safety & Security and Transition Plus, who kept us moving and safe; and to the MPS Engagement team for the Latino Heritage Month celebrations and the fantastic Danza Ecuatoriana and Banda Caribeña.

As far as we know, MPS is the only school district in the country that hosts a multi-school bike ride like Let’s Roll MPS. We can do it only because of our incredible community, which works toward a vision where all kids can move freely, easily and safely to school or wherever they want to go. Thank you all!

Monday, October. 12, 2026 is Indigenous Peoples’ Day, a time to honor the rich cultures, traditions, histories and contributions of the original stewards of this land.

Minneapolis Public Schools buildings are located on the ancestral lands of the Dakota people that were also home to the Ojibwe and Ho-Chunk peoples prior to others migrating to this area.

MPS students spent part of today learning about tribal sovereignty, exploring how Tribal Nations govern themselves and protect their lands, languages and ways of life.
