432

That's how many heart-related calls of service we've received in 2026.

Today is World Heart Day and according to a recent Star Tribune article, Minnesota ranks below average in bystander CPR. Only 39% of Minnesotans last year attempted CPR on people in cardiac arrest outside hospital settings.

Help raise that number.

September is National Preparedness Month, reminding us preparedness starts at home. You don't need a complicated plan either. Having any plan in place will make a big difference in the end.

Before the end of the month, think about:

🏠 Checking your smoke and CO alarms
🔥 Reviewing your home fire escape plan
🔦 Checking your emergency supplies and flashlights
📱 Making sure everyone knows how your family will communicate in an emergency

25 years later. And we never forget.

Never forget the people who ran toward those who needed help. Never forget the firefighters who climbed those stairs, knowing the danger ahead. Never forget the police officers, EMS personnel and ordinary citizens who helped strangers simply because they were fellow human beings.

From the 343 firefighters lost on Sept. 11, 2001, to those lost from World Trade Center-related health issues, we remember their sacrifice. Today, we come together with fire and police from around the western metro to honor those fallen first responders.

In the words of former Minnetonka Fire Chief John Vance:

Maybe "Never Forget" should mean more than remembering what happened. Maybe it should mean remembering "who we are capable of being for one another." Twenty-five years later, that seems worth remembering more than ever.

Never forget.

We love snail mail. Especially coming from our youngest fans.

Getting to share our station, our trucks and our work with the next generation is one of our favorites parts of the job.
