Liberty Woods Paving project- Due to the rain today, we will be postponing the paving until Tuesday, September 8, 2026. On Tuesday the Public Works will be paving Independence Drive and Liberty Drive from Yankee to Freedom Drive. Weather permitting Wednesday will be Liberty Drive from the cul-de-sac to Route 94.

We understand that this is an inconvenience, and we are doing our best to get this project completed, but weather conditions and other emergencies that arise in the Borough need attention too. Thank you and have a safe Labor Day weekend.

Liberty Woods paving project- This is an update for the residents of Liberty Woods. Thursday September 3rd we will be paving Independence drive and Liberty Drive from Yankee to Freedom Drive. All vehicles must be parked along Yankee or the upper part of Liberty to allow the paving crew total access. We should be completed with both sections listed above on Thursday and residents will have access to their driveways after 4 pm. (est.) On September 8th we plan on paving Liberty drive from the Cul-de-sac to Route 94 (weather permitting). Any questions, please contact Borough Manager 717 226-1066. Street updates from Public Works: Liberty Woods, starting on August 31, 2026, the Borough will be preparing Yankee Drive from the cul-de-sac to Route 94 and Liberty Drive from the cul-de-sac to Route 94 for paving. This part of the project will be milling along driveways, storm drain boxes and manhole covers. NO Parking will be permitted along these areas from August 31st to September 3rd.
Starting September 1st, paving will begin and continue until the project is completed. Please talk with your neighbors and pass the word along. Thank you and be safe.

East Pine Street - E. Pine Street is completed except an area that developed a water leak during paving of the roadway. This area will be repaired on September 1st.

Liberty Woods paving project- Correction in yesterday's post. Both Freedom and the portion of Liberty to the very top of the roadway will be milled and paved. If you entered Freedom from Route 94 and went to the end of Liberty Drive to the Cul de sac, that area is where the milling and paving project will occur.

08/12/2026

Liberty Woods paving project. On August 17, 2026, the Borough's Public Works Department will begin roadwork in the Liberty Woods Development. The first phase will be replacing the storm pipe that runs from the south side of the roadway to the north side at the entrance of Yankee Drive from Route 94. This will require the Borough to close that entrance, and traffic will need to use Freedom Drive to get to their property. This will be a two-day project, and the roadway will be back open during the evening hours.
The second phase will be the milling and paving of both Yankee and Freedom Drive. This work will begin August 31, 2026, and continue until September 3, 2026. NO on street parking will be permitted during the second phase of this project. On August 31, the streets will be prepared for paving with the milling of the roadway around storm boxes, driveways and manhole covers. The following three (3) days will be the paving portion of the project. The roadway will be sprayed prior to paving with a tack oil. Please use caution in your travels as this tack oil will carry on your tires and onto your cement driveways. We ask that you try and limit your trips in and out of the work area as possible.

East Pine Street Bridge Project - The final phase of the E. Pine Street Bridge project will begin Wednesday, August 19, 2026. The street will be close to all traffic with the exception of the residents that live between the Mountain Creek Bridge and the railroad tracks. There will be NO on street parking August 19 to August 21, 2026.
Pennsy Supply was awarded the contract to do the milling and paving of the roadway between the railroad tracks and the Mountain Creek bridge. We ask residents in the area to use extreme caution when entering or exiting that area due to the amount of equipment that will be on the roadway. In some cases, residents may need to wait for a short period of time to be let in or out of the street during paving.
Also, we are aware that August 19th is the first day of school for the Carlisle Area School District. We will make every attempt to get the buses to their location safely during this construction period.

East Pine Street Project- The Borough Public Works would like to give an update on the East Pine Street project and would ask that you pass this information on to other residents.
On Thursday July 23, 2026, E. Pine Street will be closed for the day so that UGI and the Borough can work on the street without any vehicle traffic. UGI needs to put a six-inch gas line under the new drainpipe that was installed for the Race Waterway. The Borough will be working on forming sidewalks and curbing along E. Pine Street. No Parking signs will be placed in the areas that curbing will be installed and or replaced.
When UGI completes the install of the gas pipe, the Borough will be removing some of the stones over the areas we previously worked on and placing the blacktop base down. Pennsy was awarded the bid for the milling and paving of E. Pine Street. Sometime in August (date not set) Pennsy will mill down the roadway from the railroad tracks to the Mountain Creek Bridge. After milling the entire roadway will be blacktopped and resurfaced. This will also require the roadway to be closed to traffic during this period. Thank you and drive safe!

The East Pine Street Bridge Project- The 110-year-old bridge was removed and the new under piping installed. The road is now open for traffic after a four-day road closure. The area where the bridge was removed will have stone covering it for a two-week period before a base blacktop is installed.
A special thank you to Terry Rickert and his crew for a job well done. Without his help and his crew, this project would have had the road closed to all traffic for three weeks. Thank you!

The Borough Crew will still have work to be done to the storm water drains and install of new storm boxes. There will be a few days that the road will be closed for traffic during that time period.

Bids for the milling and paving will be opened at the July 13th Council Meeting. A time frame for the paving will be posted at a later date. Any questions, please call Borough Manager at 717 486-7613.

Saturday April 25th is National Prescription take back day. As always, the Borough Police Department's Lobby will be open for drug drop off from 8 am to 4:30 pm. Spring is here and it is time to remove all expired or unused medications. Please do not flush or throw in the trash. Some medications that are chemical base can not be removed from water sources.

The Borough Council and staff are mourning the loss of our dear friend and co-worker, Pat Fisher. Pat has worked for the Borough as the Authority's billing clerk for the past 27 years. Pat passed away this morning at West Shore Hospital after a fight with cancer. She will be missed!
