Hi Sanpete families and couples! I’m putting my feelers out there to see what the interest level is in a once a month evening class for daddy-doula birth prep course. I know folks are busy and often don’t have time to take a weekly class for several weeks in order to prepare for birth. As a veteran birth doula who’s coached dozens of couples over the last eight years, I’d love to offer a group class setting for $100 for the evening, or $150 for a private coaching session.

You come, I teach; and you leave more prepared as a couple do have a better more empowered birth experience. The group class location will be at the Skyline Community Center in Mt. Pleasant.

I’d love your feedback so I can get this scheduled!

Sharing this because it just meant so much to me! Getting that text last week from a recent mama made my day!

A few weeks ago, I spent a couple of hours with this cute mama and her husband in preparation for the birth of their third child. Even though they’d had two other children, they felt they didn’t have the empowering births that they had wished to have. Hours and hours of pushing babies out in their first two births, not knowing what their options could have been.

Until our daddy doula session! That time spent with me to learn all the birthy things ahead of time, practice positions and have their questions answered, made a world of difference!

Although we can’t always predict an outcome, going into birth ahead of time with knowledge is key. Knowing ahead of time what your options are—whether laboring at home or in the hospital—gives you and your partner tips and tools to make choices in an empowered way. Whether that’s knowing the counter pressures, position changes, breath work, vocalizations, or handy tools to use as needed. All of it can add up to a better birth experience.

I’m excited to soon give more information on upcoming group daddy doula class sessions! I’ll also still be offering private one on one sessions, as well as full doula services when my schedule allows for it.

A 2025 study published in AJOG adds powerful, up-to-date data showing associations between doula care and improved maternal and newborn outcomes.

Key Maternal Outcomes:

More vaginal births after cesarean (VBAC): For every 100 patients who received doula care, there were 15 to 34 additional VBACs compared with those without doula care.

Higher postpartum follow-up attendance: 5 to 6 more per 100 received postpartum office visits.

Key Neonatal / Infant Outcomes

Increased exclusive breastfeeding rates: Babies whose families had doula support were more likely to breastfeed exclusively.

Fewer preterm births (and early preterm births): Doula-supported births showed a reduction in preterm birth rates.

In short, the study links doula care with improvements in birth outcomes — across birth mode (more VBACs), infant health (less prematurity), and early infant care (breastfeeding, postpartum follow-up).

After my two clients had their babies at the end of 2025, I had to pause my client intake as I had several trips coming up the first part of 2026. So far this year, I’ve been to St. George at least four times; I was in Alaska to see my oldest daughter and her family at the end of February into the first of March. The end of March found me flying with my 16 yr old son, to help my middle daughter and her family move to Tennessee over Spring break. During that trip, I also made a little excursion with my sister into Asheville, NC to celebrate her 50th birthday (she also lives in Tennessee, two hours away from where my daughter’s family just moved to.) I’d barely been back from that trip for a week, and it was time for the long anticipated group rewards trip to Oahu, Hawaii for my husband’s business (he’s worked as a commercial realtor with NAI for over 30 years.) About 40 of us went on that trip between four offices in Utah and Nevada. Whew! It’s been a lot of fun! Yet I’m ready to be home more in Sanpete now. With all that going on this far into 2026, it wasn’t possible for me to take on clients and be certain I’d be around for due dates. I absolutely LOVE to travel. It’s one of the things that keeps me going in my own personal life, in addition to seeing new life come into the world when I support my clients as a birth doula. In the middle of all that, we’ve added 24 new chickens to the mix, and it’s the end of school year chaos and sports, plus all the other stuff of life.

I’m ready now to schedule out clients, as I likely won’t be going outside the state of Utah for another six months or so (at least that I know of right now lol!) I’d love to meet potential clients for a complimentary consultation to see if we are a good fit and our schedules for due dates can align!

I was recently going through my FB memories on my personal account, and found this video that I had shared to myself seven years ago when I was a newer doula. For those looking into information as to why a doula can make such a difference in childbirth, this is a great (albeit older) video that’s less than 15 minutes to watch.
