We’re building more than housing — we’re building hope.
🏡 The Cottages at Silverstone will provide 46 affordable homes for seniors earning 30% or less of the Area Median Income, along with wellness programs and community spaces designed for connection.
Our predevelopment goal: $250,000
Every dollar moves us closer to breaking ground in North Nashville.
✨ Your gift today becomes part of a legacy that keeps seniors rooted where they belong.

At 79 years old, our family’s matriarch Norma lost her home when her senior living community was sold out from under her.
Her story is not unique. More than 52% of seniors in Davidson County are cost-burdened, spending too much of their fixed income just to stay housed.
That’s why we launched Our Legacy Lives Here to build The Cottages at Silverstone, a 46-unit affordable senior community in North Nashville where seniors can age in place, stay connected in community, and be given the opportunity to thrive.

Please join us for an unforgettable evening of storytelling and purpose as we work together to ensure our seniors can remain in the communities they helped build.

🎥 Starring award-winning actor Cameron Arnett, the film was written and produced by Natalie Ruffino Wilson and Kyler Wilson in partnership with the Nashville Filmmakers Guild’s StoryGive Project. One Bad Break tells a humbling and deeply human story of how a single unforeseen hardship can unravel stability for a senior living on a fixed income, revealing just how fragile housing security can be in a rapidly growing city.
Through compelling storytelling, the film reflects AWAKE Nashville’s mission to mitigate displacement and create sustainable affordable housing solutions for seniors who deserve to age in place with dignity.

As a part of the event, AWAKE Nashville will host a networking mixer, premiere film screening, and a post-screening panel moderated by Hannah McDonald of NewsChannel 5. She will sit down with leaders in government, affordable housing, and public policy to explore long-term, collaborative solutions to meet the growing affordable housing needs of seniors in our community.

7PM-7:30PM - Networking Mixer
7:45PM - Short Film Screening
8:30PM - 9PM - Panel Discussion

This evening is more than a film screening — it is a call to awareness, accountability, and action. It will also serve as an opportunity to raise essential funds for AWAKE Nashville’s upcoming affordable housing community, The Cottages at Silverstone, a 46-unit affordable senior development designed to support independent living, wellness, and social connection in North Nashville.

I’m honored to share an article recently published about me and the journey behind AWAKE Nashville, featured in the Nashville Voyager.

When we started AWAKE Nashville, it came from a deeply personal place, watching seniors, including the matriarch of our own family, be displaced from the community they loved. We simply saw a need and felt called to help. Never did we imagine that God would turn that calling into a million-dollar mission to develop an entire senior living community.

We began this journey with just $738 in the bank and pure intentions to be part of the change we wanted to see. If you know me, you know I have a servant’s heart and a deep love for my Nana and for my elders. Starting this work alongside my mother was both sacred and scary. I’ve spent years coaching others to step into the forefront but I never expected to be there myself.

In 2020, I asked God for a profound purpose, and that prayer was answered. However, the journey has not been easy. Fighting for systemic change, especially in affordable housing, is challenging. The work lives at the intersection of policy, politics, and limited funding, and the road has been filled with skepticism, red tape, and resistance. But through every challenge, our faith, perseverance, and community have carried us forward.

Grateful for the opportunity to share my story, and even more grateful for the mission still unfolding.

We’re so thankful to close out the year with our annual holiday event, serving over 40 seniors at Knowles Home Assisted Living ❤️🎄

A huge thank you to Vanderbilt’s Black Women in Medicine and the NAACP chapter for sponsoring the gift bags this year to ensure every senior had a gift filled with winter necessities.

We would like to give a special thanks to Happy Hearts Smile, Inc. for the continued collaboration and for hosting music bingo. It is always a ton of fun when we get together.

Also, thank you to our amazing volunteers that dedicated their time, talent and energy to make this event such a success. Truly, none of this would be possible without you.

And last but not least, thank you to Shyne Events for the beautiful balloon décor, Caprisha Hudson for leading Christmas carols with her beautiful voice, and to Martin Cherry for capturing 📸every special moment.

Let this be a reminder to take time to give back this holiday because that is truly what it is all about. Happy Holiday…until next year peace and blessings. ❤️✨
