We are still looking for District 8 neighbors to participate in the Citizen’s Water Academy. It is not too late to join!
The Citizens Water Academy Program is an opportunity to learn about the various functions and processes of Metro Water Services. We visit the treatment plants and laboratory and hear from leaders across all sections of MWS.
The Spring 2026 in-person sessions will be held on:
Tuesday, April 21; 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. - “Imagine a Day Without Water” at the K.R. Harrington Water Treatment Plant
Thursday, April 23; 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. - “Protecting the Environment” at the Whites Creek Water Reclamation Facility
Tuesday, April 28; 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. - “A Sustainable Future” at the Biosolids Facility
Thursday, April 30; 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. - “Protecting Public Health” at the MWS Research and Analytical Laboratory
Tuesday, May 5; 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. - “The Value of Water” at the Omohundro Water Treatment Plant

Good afternoon! I am the current Chair of the Metro Council’s Budget and Finance Committee. I have served on the committee my entire time on Council, 6 and a half years. This is my 2nd time serving as Chair. I have served as Vice-Chair three times. I hold a JD with a Law and Business Certificate, an MBA in Finance and Strategy, and a Master’s Degree in Tax Law. I know finance, and I am well versed in the city’s budget. I want you to be well versed as well.The first of a 4-part education series takes place on Saturday, March 28th, at 1:30pm at the Bordeaux Library. Lunch will be provided (first come, first served), and there will be door prizes. I’ll see you there!
