Chris Moth – a lifelong Tennessean, Metro Schools parent, volunteer, and education advocate – is seeking the Democratic nomination for the Nashville School Board for District 8. Chris is a 33-year District 8 resident, having moved to Nashville with his wife, Valerie, shortly after their marriage. Chris and Valerie have raised three children in Green Hills and have had children in Metro Nashville P
ublic Schools for the past 17 years. Their son is a graduate of Hillsboro High School, their older daughter will graduate from Hume Fogg High School this year, and their younger daughter attends J.T. Chris has a wealth of experience in our schools as a Metro Nashville Public Schools parent for the past 17 years, co-chair of the Hillsboro Cluster Parent Advisory Committee, school PTO board member, member of the Metro Nashville Health and Educational Facilities Board, chair of various school-level committees, substitute teacher, and a passionate community member advocating for the best for our schools. Chris co-founded Daisy Systems in 1982 while still in college and authored the software that the firm would sell to several thousand florist shops. As president, he helped lead growth of the business through Daisy’s sale to Teleflora in 1998. He later earned two master’s degrees and his Ph.D. Most recently, he’s balanced parenting and family with community service while enjoying an ongoing career at Teleflora alongside research in computational chemistry. The Moths attend Hillsboro Presbyterian Church.
