Introducing one of our very seasoned professors at Conn, Professor Dale Wilson!
He specializes in Ethnomusicology and has been teaching at the college since 2004. classes you can find him teaching are Music Culture and Experience, Music of the World, Chinese Music and Theater, The Language of Jazz, and Introduction to Music Theory at the Keyboard.
He is also a composer! His original compositions have been performed at Brooklyn’s ShapeShifter Lab, The Blue Note Jazz Club (NY), The Garage (NY), Smalls Jazz Club (NY), Merkin Hall (NY), International Association of Jazz Educator's (IAJE) annual conference, American Bandmasters Association (ABA) annual conference, International Double Reed Society (IDRS) annual conference, and other venues in the United States and Europe. He draws inspiration from Jazz and East Asian music, as he grew up in Hong Kong!
A new composition he wrote Entitled “Trio” for violin, cello, and piano will be performed next week at the Department of Music Faculty Showcase Concert on February 17. He will perform the piece with Connecticut College professors Katie Kennedy (cello), and Jaroslaw Lis (violin), with Dale on piano.

The students curated a playlist of Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn songs in the Greer Music Library and each selection is introduced by the student who chose it.
