Fort Berthold Rural Water (FBRW) had the distinct honor of hosting the Department of the Interior’s Assistant Secretary for Water and Science Dr. Andrea Travnicek today, October 17, 2026, for a monumental site visit and productive strategy session.
The day kicked off in Mandaree with a comprehensive tour of our state-of-the-art Bruce Fox Sr. Water Treatment Plant. This facility, which officially opened its doors this past August, represents a historic leap forward in delivering clean, reliable, and sustainable drinking water for the West Segment utilizing a new cutting edge ceramic membrane filtration system.
Following the site tour, leadership reconvened at the FBRW Administration Office in 4 Bears. This critical face-to-face meeting provided a vital platform to advocate for the MHA Nation's long-term infrastructure health. Our discussions centered heavily on:
• Ongoing federally funded projects that keep our water infrastructure expanding and modernizing.
• Critical program needs to guarantee future operational security and water sovereignty for our community members.
We extend our deep gratitude to the Assistant Secretary and the Department of the Interior/ United States Bureau of Reclamation team for their continued engagement, collaboration, and investment in the future of the Fort Berthold Rural Water System.
