Community Board 10 mourns the loss of Stephen A. Harrison, former Chair, (2001 to 2003), who served as a Board Member for over 25 years. Steve was a devoted volunteer, spending countless hours advocating on behalf of the residents of Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton.

Steve served as Chair of the Zoning and Land Use Committee and oversaw the block-by-block neighborhood plan with the help of the Department of City Planning to rezone Bay Ridge in 2005 and Dyker Heights in 2007.

Steve was a leader who truly cared about his community active in many civic groups, block associations, his alma mater, Xaverian High School, the 68th Precinct Youth Council and Saint Anselm Youth Activities. Steve also stepped up to the plate to help residents who disagreed with decisions of local government and did pro bono work in three Article 78 proceedings.

Chair Vallas called Steve "a great community leader who was always fair and balanced in listening to the concerns of neighbors." He was also an outstanding parliamentarian and zoning expert who contributed so much to the Board over the years"

Community Board 10 extends their sincere condolences to his wife Alice, daughter Michele, son Jeff, grandchildren and extended family and friends. Steve will be greatly missed and always remembered for his contributions to Community Board 10.

Services for Steve Harrison will be Sunday, October 4th from 3pm to 7pm - Clavin Funeral Home 7722 4th Avenue and Mass at Saint Anselm Church 8202 4th Avenue - Monday, October 5th at 9:45am.
