New Immigration Policy
“With the new USCIS policy, many green card applicants in the US will probably be required to leave while their cases are processed – particularly affecting mixed-status families nationwide by forcing green card applicants to leave jobs, homes and relationships for an unknown amount of time. The agency is already struggling with a backlog of visa and green card cases.”

“We cannot continue to ask them to carry the physical, economic, and psychological burden of this broken system, nor should we continue to put patients at risk by placing them in the care of overworked caretakers,” Vittoria Fariello, a district leader with Downtown Independent Democrats, said in a statement. “Home care work is both physically and emotionally taxing, and many women who worked 24-hour shifts have become patients themselves because of the work. I would ask the governor if she would accept this if her own mother were a home attendant.”

His administration said broadening eligibility for the $1.2 billion program is too expensive, and would drive costs up to $4.7 billion by 2030 — about the size of the city’s entire homeless services agency.”

Must Read: Do we still live in a Democracy? With the rapid rise of AI and digital technologies, the power once held by citizens is being eroded at an alarming pace.
“The deeper we dig, the more remnants of bias we will find in our technology. We cannot afford to look away this time, because the stakes are simply too high. We risk losing the gains made with the civil rights movement and women's movement under the false assumption of machine neutrality. Automated systems are not inherently neutral. They reflect the priorities, preferences, and prejudices—the coded gaze—of those who have the power to mold artificial intelligence.”
