It was an honor to address the graduates at the Queens College commencement ceremony this morning, and to celebrate the incredible accomplishments of the Class of 2026. As a former faculty member who taught at Queens College from 1996 to 2003, being back on campus always feels like coming home. I’m proud to be part of the Queens College family, and it was a true joy to share this special day with so many bright and inspiring graduates. Congratulations to the Class of 2026! I wish you all the best in your future endeavors!

Residential Waste Containerization - DSNY 05/26/2026

Reminder for homeowners and small residential buildings: beginning June 1, all buildings with 1 to 9 residential units are required to use the official NYC Bin for trash setout. These bins are durable, rodent-resistant, and compatible with DSNY collection trucks, making pickups safer and more efficient for Sanitation Workers.

The Department of Sanitation has announced that warnings will be issued throughout the summer, with full enforcement beginning the Tuesday after Labor Day. Demand for the bins has been high, but supplies are being restocked daily at NYC Home Depot locations.

For more information, including how to purchase a bin, please visit:

Residential Waste Containerization - DSNY New York City is finally removing the mountains of black bags from our streets, reclaiming public space and improving quality of life.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Memorial Day is a time to reflect on the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who gave their lives to serve our country.

Let us take a moment to remember their sacrifices and to express our deepest gratitude. To all the veterans out there, I am forever grateful for your service and all you have done for this country. And to those who have died defending our freedoms – as well as those of who have lost loved ones during war or conflict – please know my thoughts and prayers are with you today and always. Gone, but not forgotten.
