Let’s talk about some common misconceptions around the term “Wellness”.
While the list is long, let’s look at the three most common ones:
1. Wellness is one dimensional: Wellness is not one dimensional! The six pillars of wellness are emotional, physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, and occupational. At any given time, you can feel strong in one pillar and absolutely defeated in another. Wellness incorporates a more holistic lifestyle, hence preventing us to pursue practices that might benefit one pillar but negatively affect another.
2. Wellness is one size fits all: Wellness is a one size fits all idea. Based on the different pillars of wellness, it becomes obvious that not everyone might benefit from the same amount of attention on each part of their lives. Some might benefit from starting a workout routine that they like; others might benefit from spending more time with their spouse and working on their relationships. Wellness is a unique concept and must account for the differences in different individuals.
3. Health and Wellness are the same: Health and Wellness are not the same! While they might share some metrics, the main difference is that Health is primarily judged by the state of the physical body and the psychological make-up of an individual. Wellness judges the totality of an individual’s life including emotional and occupational states as well.
Did that clear up certain ideas that you might have had in the past?

While a lot of people might associate the word “Holistic” with just another fad, the fact is that it is no more than a perspective or a way of living your life in the most sustainable way.
Holistic living is a mindset and a way of life. It means taking care of your entire self, mind, body, emotions, and soul. It’s having the awareness that each of these areas connect and influence one another.
Another important aspect of holistic living is being intentional with your thoughts, words, and actions.
It is also a common misconception that living holistically involves doing a lot of yoga and consuming a strict diet. Although these methods can help, the idea is to take care of your body and mind in every way you can.
Although, this is a more general way of looking at it, with advanced medical science by our side, humanity has now figured out how to heal and prevent most diseases, sleep better, feel energized and calm throughout the day through cutting edge practices and technology.
At Woke Hero, we are dedicated to distributing this information in the most accessible way possible. Our program, “Hero Wellness” is created around this concept and aims to teach you the most beneficial practices in this field. Learn more by visiting WokeHero.com

Fear is a universal emotion. Often, it makes a lot of sense for us to be afraid of something. It is smart to be afraid a wild animal, or an imminent threat to our lives. In most other non-life-threatening scenarios, it is nothing but an impediment to our success.
At a bodily level, fear heightens the senses so we can be ready for fight or flight.
This sensation is nothing more than what it is: just another sensation.
Athletes and performers, a class of people that make their living by some sort of performative action, feats of athletic or creative achievement, think of it a bit differently.
Moments before you go on stage as a public speaker or an artist, on the mat as a martial artist on in the board room for an important meeting, it is important to remind yourself that you are excited for it.
Expand your body posture and open your mind to face all that lies ahead and accept that your body is merely preparing you for what lies ahead. An adventure. A challenge. An opportunity for further growth.
This fear can sometimes keep us from growing and keeps us stuck in the same milestone in life, day after day and year after year.
We created the Woke Hero journey to tackle the grip of fear on impressionable minds and reprogram them for more courage, confidence, and success.

Saying No is the ultimate productivity hack. It might not be the easiest to implement, given the delicate social ties we have to manage along with everything else in our lives.
But there is a direct correlation between the inability to say No and ending up wasting your time. Saying no saves time in the future, while saying Yes costs time in the future. In that sense, saying No is the ultimate form of safeguarding your time.
Time is the biggest contributing factor when it comes to success after work ethic. Some things just take time no matter how hard you work at them. When you preserve this time, it becomes easier to reach a certain level with your goals because there was more time investment in pursuit of that goal.
Now the question becomes how do we say No when we feel like we are being forced to say Yes?
If an opportunity is exciting enough to drop whatever you’re doing right now, then it’s a yes. If it’s not, then perhaps you should think twice.
As writer Mike Dariano has pointed out, “It’s easier to avoid commitments than get out of commitments. Saying no keeps you toward the easier end of this spectrum.”
More effort is wasted doing things that don’t matter than is wasted doing things inefficiently. And if that is the case, elimination is a more useful skill than optimization.
“There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all.” - Peter Drucker

The world of personal development places a lot of emphasis on consistency, on knowing what your goal is and simply grinding it out no matter how you feel.
While there is some substance to that thought from the perspective of mindset, it is not a complete one.
There is value in consistency, there is value in single mindedly focusing on your goal, but this sort of myopic mindset does not lend itself to long term happiness.
You can only grind for so long before it becomes a burden. You can only go against your instincts for so long before they come back with a vengeance. Think of it like stretching a rubber band, it might seem like a lot of work is being done in stretching it out, but only with foresight and experience can we know that it is going to snap back faster than we stretched it.
This is what happens to our mind when we do not give it enough healthy and engaging stimulus.
Yes, there is a lot of mental stimulus in studying and working from home. But that needs to be balanced with physical activity. There is value in working on your career, but it needs to be balanced with having some hobbies.
The key word here is sustainability. There is value in trying new things and spicing up your life since it makes the pursuit of our goals more fun and engaging.

At some point, it dawns on us.
There is no overnight success. There is no get rich quick scheme. There is no single exponential gain without marginal gains. Everything happens one day at a time and even something as lavish as a palace is built one brick at a time.
When we apply the same slow, thoughtful, and considerate mindset to our personal growth, we are left with one simple fact: everything is habits.
Think of them as little scripts that automate most tasks in the operating software for the mind. These are the tasks we’ve outsourced so we no longer have to consciously think about them.
Therein lies the beauty of habits, but also the biggest problem. It takes some time to become aware of your habits if you’ve let them run on auto pilot for the longest time.
But once you do, it is like realizing that most things that you thought were just “something you do” can be changed slowly over time and completely replaced.
Take an example of someone who is stuck in a job they dislike. There might be several factors that could contribute to why that is: natural tendencies, lack of work ethic, lack of opportunity and so forth.
But if the goal of getting a better job is broken down into monthly, weekly and daily increments, it turns out that the steps to go from a job you dislike to one that you really like, are just steps, that if you follow properly will get you the desired results.
Applying this slow burning mindset to the entirety of our lives is the way to go. At Woke Hero, our programs are designed to keep these basic principles of habit formation in mind with an end goal in mind as well as lifestyle design.

In "Ecce Homo" Nietzsche writes: "My formula for greatness in a human being is Amor fati: that one wants nothing to be different, not forward, not backward, not in all eternity. Not merely bear what is necessary, still less conceal it… but love it."
This quote by Nietzsche, if taken out of context, can seem like an endorsement for apathy. To not care, to not put any effort, and let go of all ambition. But while this is what it seems like on the surface, Nietzsche is prodding at a much deeper existential question here.
Here Nietzsche talks about celebrating the things that are in our control and let go of the ones that are not. This correlates with a stoic exercise called premeditatio malorum, where a person imagines about everything that could go wrong or could be taken away from them.
So what is the ultimate aim of doing these exercises and thinking from this perspective?
It is simple: to reduce our attachment to an idea of success. We cannot be fully present to achieve our goals unless we let go of the anxiety of what would happen if we failed. The things that we enjoy and cherish so much in our lives are also the ones that trap us. It is outside of these objects/things, that we truly find freedom.
Living out in the world and being ambitious starts with a peaceful inner world and acceptance. Aiming to get better things in life starts with knowing that we will be fine even if what we have is taken away from us. It is this comfort that is bred in the uncomfortable, that sets the foundation for all success.
