Thank you & for hosting events this past week to celebrate Lunar New Year & the historic bill I led to make it a statewide school holiday. We are so grateful to have leaders who prioritize Asian New Yorkers and recognize the importance of celebrating Asian culture in New York.

At our Lunar New Year Parade Celebration Breakfast, we were proud to present proclamations to four honorees who have made exceptional contributions to our Asian community in New York, particularly in Chinatown📸🏆

- a pioneering Asian American fashion designer and devoted activist, including with .

- a fashion designer, model, and entrepreneur who is an outspoken advocate for greater diversity and inclusion in the fashion industry.

- highly successful and popular online content creators, influencers, and advocates who platform and educate others on issues important to the Asian American community.

The Chinese Chamber of Commerce of New York - Chinatown’s oldest and most historic Asian American civic and trade organization, working for over a century to improve the lives of Asian New Yorkers and strengthen Asian communities.

Today, our Chinatown community joined elected officials from across the state at the Lunar New Year Parade Celebration Breakfast! We are celebrating the year of the 🐉 & the historic bill we passed to recognize LNY in NY. Thanks & for co-hosting!

We were deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Victor Papa, a beloved community leader and President of . He will be sorely missed, but his decades of work to improve the lives of our LES/Two Bridges constituents will never be forgotten.

Last year, New York’s Caucus led a historic year on behalf of Asian New Yorkers, boosting funding and representation for Asian communities across the state. We are glad to be back in Albany for this year’s session and look forward to building on these achievements!

Great to visit ’s Food Pantry and ’s senior center at Lillian Wald Houses as they continue their work to connect vulnerable members of our community with food & senior programming. We are grateful for these organizations’ long standing dedication to improving the lives of Lower Manhattan residents!

As the first Korean woman in NY’s legislature, I was proud to celebrate Korean American Day by recognizing leaders from NY’s Korean community on the Assembly floor - I had the honor of introducing Kwang Suk Kim of and Yun Suk Jung of the Korean Association of Albany.

As we head into this year’s session, our office is reflecting on some of the highlights that made our first year in the Assembly so special. Looking to build on these achievements in 2024!

Thank you for hosting a breakfast for legislators to help kick off this year’s session. Workers across our state need the support of unions now more than ever, and we are looking forward to a productive year fighting in the Assembly to make New York .
