“The beautiful campus, the computer science programs, the affordability and exposure to various activities—QCC checked all the boxes.”
From joining Phi Theta Kappa to presenting research across CUNY and beyond, Iman transformed opportunity into impact through both academics and community service.
Now, she’s looking toward a future in artificial intelligence, software engineering, and advanced research as she continues her academic journey beyond Queensborough. 💙✨

Meet Queensborough Community College’s 2026 Salutatorian, Elizabeth Lee!
A Chemistry major with plans to become a physician, Elizabeth’s path to success was anything but traditional. After leaving high school, earning her TASC diploma, and working at Starbucks, she found her way to QCC — where she went on to achieve a perfect 4.0 GPA, join PTK, and earn the 2026 Norman L. Hill Excellence in STEM Research Award.
But beyond her academic achievements, Elizabeth takes the most pride in giving back through volunteer work in medical and emergency services and tutoring fellow students at CTAS.

📢 Update: MTA Service Disruptions
We are closely monitoring the impact of the ongoing MTA service disruption following the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) strike. At this time, all CUNY campuses, including Queensborough Community College, remain open and operating on a regular schedule.
We recognize that this disruption is affecting travel across the region. Members of our campus community should anticipate longer commute times, increased roadway traffic, and crowded conditions on remaining public transit options, as many riders shift to buses, subways, and other alternatives.
The MTA’s contingency plan includes limited shuttle bus service from Long Island to subway connections in Queens. We encourage everyone to plan ahead and review the latest service updates and travel options on the MTA’s strike information page:
MTA LIRR Service & Strike Updates
For staff in non-essential roles, flexible scheduling may be used, with supervisor approval, where operational needs can continue to be met. This includes adjusting shifts to 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.or 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. to help mitigate commuting challenges.
We also ask faculty to use discretion and flexibility, as appropriate, for students who may be affected by these transit challenges.
The College will continue to monitor developments, including guidance from CUNY, and will share updates if conditions change.
Thank you for your patience and care for one another.
