Your spirit has left your body. I know. I know.
I cried so hard I couldn't see. My eyes swollen shut. Max slept at my feet as Bill held me and cried with me.
Where's my shadow, my best companion, my protector?
I'm your mommy this wasn't supposed to happen.
I had a dream last night.
I broke into the veterinary hospital where we had left you.
I stole your body from that dark cold room and you were alive. You were 1 year old and I said to you, “ I’ll jump started your heart my boy.”

We went for a hike after we left you. The hike you loved. Arduous, open, and free of the constraint of any leash. When we reached the top of the mountain it began to snow as the sky turned dark with only a sliver at the end of a November moon as it turned eerily quiet... And in the distance the coyotes began to cry.

Last night I woke to you, coyotes howling...crying

Who am I without you?

My spirit, your spirit, we are one, and you will guide me as you have already done.
