Connecting more people to parks and nature has been a major component of the work I do as a New York State Senator.

As Chair of the Senate committee on state parks, I believe it is critical that we not only fund and fortify our green spaces, but that we also make them accessible and more welcoming to every community across New York State.

Last week, I was proud to offer remarks at the annual Parks & Trails New York George W. Perkins Awards Reception. Grateful for all that does to help promote stewardship, develop policy, and push for improvements to our beloved parks and hiking trails. 🥾🌳🏕️

For decades, Hostos College has been a beacon of opportunity in the South Bronx, opening doors to education, opportunity, and brighter futures for our community.

I’m proud to have sponsored legislation in the NYS Senate to co-name the 149th Street-Grand Concourse subway station with Hostos Community College.

The renovation of this station represents a major investment in our community, bringing new elevators and accessibility upgrades, making our public transportation easier for students, faculty, and local residents.

Thank you to Assemblymember Amanda Septimo for her leadership and legislative sponsorship in the NYS Assembly, and to the MTA, CUNY leadership, Hostos students, and my colleagues in government for this important upgrade and recognition!

Many thanks to all who joined us at our Pet Food Giveaway at our District Office!

Our pets bring so much joy and happiness to our lives, and it’s critically important that we give them all that they need to be healthy and happy! We were able to assist 110 families and provided 1,235lbs of dry pet food for dogs and cats, 12 bags of litter, and 120 cans of cat food.

My sincere gratitude to the amazing team from Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) for supplying the pet food and expertise. 🐈
