We’re screening El Príncep (2024), a fiction feature by Alex Sardà, alongside Carmen, No Fear of Freedom (2023), a documentary by Irene Baqué, produced by Barcelona-based independent company 15L, known for its bold, creative documentaries and feature films.

📢📸 PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST | U.S. 250th ANNIVERSARY 🇪🇸🇺🇸To mark the 250th anniversary of the United States, the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain launches “Roots and Routes: Spanish Memories in the U.S.”, a photography contest celebrating the Spanish legacy, influence, and shared heritage across the country.

✨ We’re looking for images that capture how Spain’s history and culture remain alive in U.S. landscapes, cities, and everyday life: from historic missions and architecture to contemporary cultural expressions.

👤 Who can apply?
✔️ Spanish citizens, 18+

🌏 Living anywhere in the world

📍 Photos must be taken in the United States

🖼️ What to submit?
• 1 original photograph
• A short text (150–200 words) explaining its context and connection to the Spanish legacy

🏆 Selected works will be exhibited in large format as part of The Fence Project at the Spanish Cultural Center in Washington, DC, and in a traveling outdoor exhibition across the U.S.

For our 2026 program, Winter Film Festival is honored to screen an incredible collection of eight outstanding films from Spain. These films showcases the breadth and vitality of contemporary Spanish independent cinema, spanning documentary, animation, drama, comedy and horror. From intimate portraits of resilience and migration to imaginative storytelling rooted in memory, social critique, and genre, these works reflect a cinematic landscape shaped by both tradition and innovation.

All screenings take place at REGAL Union Square (850 Broadway).
