The JONY Invitational Golf Tournament forms part of Jamaica's 52nd Independence celebrations in New York City and the organizers strongly believe this event will provide an opportunity to underscore and celebrate the vibrant and productive relationship between New York City and the Caribbean community. The event kicks off with a shotgun start at 9:00 am, and will be followed by a silent auction and awards ceremony. A number of dignitaries have already come out in support of the event including the Consul General of Jamaica, Herman LaMont, former Prime Minister of Jamaica the Hon. Andrew Holness and former Jamaican Ambassador Audrey Marks all of whom will be in attendance at the Jamaica Open NY ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday August 4. Adding to the excitement of the tournament, JONY organizer Alsion Roach will be hosting Reggae on the Green on Sunday, August 3rd to celebrate the launch of their first annual golf invitational.
