On Thursday, the Deputy Commissioner of Employee Relations team had an amazing time at the Annual Answer the Call Block Party! 🎉 The energy was vibrant — filled with music, games, sweet treats, and plenty of smiles. It was especially heartwarming to see the families of our fallen heroes from the NYPD, FDNY, and PAPD enjoying a well-deserved day of fun and relaxation.

This incredible event supports the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund, which provides vital assistance to the families of our city’s Finest and bravest who made the ultimate sacrifice. We’re grateful to be part of a community that continues to uplift, support, and honor those who selflessly serve and protect New York City.

On November 8, 1874, Patrolman Thomas Evers responded to a dispute at Broome & Thompson Street. In an attempt to capture a fleeing suspect, he commandeered a No. 2 Broadway horse trolley.
