Liam's Army of Hope

Our warrior Liam started his fight against neuroblastoma at age 2 in 2014. We pray he remains NED! diff, and a stem cell transplant.

In late July 2014, the family noticed that Liam was walking differently and gradually walking less. After a month of pediatrician, ER, and specialist visits, he was diagnosed with Stage IV High Risk Neuroblastoma. He has gone through 5 rounds of chemotherapy, successful resection of his tumor, a horrible bout with c. He is currently in the hospital fighting to regain his strength after a collapsed lung and severe diaper rash with blisters of unknown cause.

This weekend marks the 10th anniversary of Liam’s stage 4 neuroblastoma diagnosis, or as Dierdre calls it, Liam’s “Cancerversary”. We’re deeply grateful for the privilege of this milestone, and forever indebted to the many people in our lives who held us up in their prayers, healing vibes, and hearts, during the dark days of 3 long years of chemo, surgery, stem cell transplants, immunotherapy, and clinical trials.
Through 1000+ days of active treatment and 200+ days in the PICU, Dierdre was always at Liam’s side as his fiercest advocate and devoted caregiver. Madison and Ben were the best big Sister and Brother Liam could ever hope for, and so courageous in their own right. Liam’s gifted surgeon Dr Laquaglia, and countless other doctors, nurses, and caregivers will always hold a special place in our hearts as living Angels on earth.
Liam turned 12 in May, and continues to thrive as our caring, witty, smart, music loving “Nugget”. He loves the Beatles and especially John Lennon. How fitting that he adores a person that embodied so much love and hope for a better tomorrow.
We love you Liam and forever hopeful for many more cancerversaries. ☺️
