📚 For January’s , we're reading Hello, Universe by Erin Entrada Kelly.

The holiday season is upon Lolly and his mother, but it's tough celebrating when the gang-related death of his older brother is still a fresh wound. Through building his own Lego city, Lolly is able to find an escape from the pressures to follow in his brother's shoes and go off on a different path making his own footsteps as he progresses.

At the suggestion of her science teacher, Natalie enters a competition that she views as an opportunity to solve her problems. Mainly the prize money can help her with her mother's depression by taking the potential prize money to see the fantastic Cobalt Blue Orchids in the hopes that they will inspire her mom to enjoy life again. So, with the help of her friends, Natalie embarks on a journey that helps her see the power of hope and love and that mom is people, too.

📚 This May’s , we're reading When You Trap a Tiger by Tae Keller.
This uplifting story takes the reader on an adventure with the protagonist, Lily, as she tries to unravel her family's secret history when a magical tiger from her Korean folktale approaches her with a deal to save her sick grandmother. But she soon learns that dealing with tigers can be deceiving, and with her sister's help, Lily finds her voice and courage needed to confront the tiger.

This novel tells the story of a girl starting a new life. But starting anew still doesn't prevent someone from posting anonymous, hateful memes about her on the school website. So while adjusting to her new life in a new school, home and living openly as the girl she always knew she was, Zenobia sets out to solve the mystery of the anonymous bully.
