β οΈ A 32-year-old Florida man is facing a felony charge after authorities say more than 26,000 pounds of construction debris and household trash were illegally dumped inside a protected Florida wildlife management area.
π Here's what the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission confirmed:
The investigation began August 3 after an FWC officer discovered a massive pile of debris inside the Ocala Wildlife Management Area. The pile contained concrete, metal roofing, and household garbage. Marion County Waste Management was called to remove it β total weight: 26,040 pounds. More than 13 tons.
π Investigators identified Eusebio Ramon of Spring Hill as the man hired to haul and properly dispose of demolition debris. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Ramon admitted he was solely responsible for dumping it in the protected area instead.
βοΈ Ramon was arrested and charged with felony littering of more than 500 pounds β the largest illegal dumping case to result in an arrest since the Marion County Litter Task Force was established. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond.
