For millions of New Yorkers, especially women, caregivers, and low-wage workers, rent stabilization isn't just a housing policy. It's the difference between staying in your neighborhood and being pushed out of it.

Each year, the NYC Rent Guidelines Board (RGB) determines how much landlords can increase rents on stabilized apartments. Before their final vote, the Board holds public hearings across the boroughs, becoming one of the most direct opportunities everyday New Yorkers have to amplify their voices.

Did you know you have a direct say in how NYC spends its budget?

The People's Money is NYC's annual citywide participatory budgeting process where residents decide how to spend the city's budget on real community projects such as mental health services, childcare support, youth programming, food access, and more.

Any New Yorker age 11 and up can vote, with no citizenship or registration required. When working people, youth, and parts of every community show up, the budget reflects it.

The NYC 2026 budget is $115.9 billion, and every dollar reflects a choice about who gets supported and who gets left behind.

Women in NYC outvote men in every election cycle (WCC, The Power of Participation, 2025). That power matters. With a 23% pay gap for women of color, 86% of single mothers unable to meet basic expenses, and 50% of NYC households falling below the basic needs threshold (WCC, State of NYC Women Report, 2025), the people on your ballot will decide what happens next on childcare, wages, housing, and healthcare.
