The mission of Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS) NY is to help New York City’s most vulnerable residents remain with their pets by delivering critical programs and services through a community of partners and volunteers. Our programs help keep pets in their homes while protecting and promoting the human-animal bond that is so physically and psychologically valuable to our clients.

This sweet girl has been in PAWS NY foster care while her guardian receives medical treatment. Now, she’s facing a serious medical emergency of her own.

Alibi remains hospitalized, and her veterinary expenses are approaching $10,000. We’re doing everything we can to make sure she gets the care she needs.

❤️ An Urgent Update on Alibi Cute Pie 🐾

You may remember sweet Alibi, the 7-year-old pup we introduced you to last week. She’s been staying with loving PAWS NY foster volunteers since early August.

Unfortunately, we have some difficult news to share. 💔

Alibi was rushed to the veterinary hospital over the weekend with a very high fever, significant pain, and an inability to walk. She’s still hospitalized as her medical team works to determine what’s causing her symptoms and help her recover.

With medical expenses approaching $10,000, we’re asking our community to come together to help Alibi get the care she needs.

Today's Foster Friday is Krittika and Rama! They have been fostering Alibi Cutie Pie for the past 5 weeks while her guardian gets the care they need. Read the full Foster Spotlight below!

Tell us a little about yourselves!
We are Krittika and Rama- we love pets but never actually had one before and always wanted a dog!

What inspired you to become PAWS NY foster volunteers?
Rama has been volunteering with PAWS for house visits for a while now and he felt deeply about the impact it was making in the community. This felt like the right next step for us and when Rama saw the post with Alibi's photo and description , we knew she was the one for us!

What’s been your favorite foster memory so far?
Alibi cutie pie took her time to adjust initially.. She took to Rama but with me, she was still very shy .. until two weeks in when we were sitting and watching TV together and an old classic backstreet boys song came ona and I started slowly grooving to it. Alibi immediately got up and started wagging her tail too and going in small circles and we danced together.. It was a moment so perfect and precious!

What’s something that has surprised you about fostering?
We had read about the 3-3-3 rule (3 days to settle, 3 weeks to acclimate, 3 months to thrive) but seeing it in action was truly fascinating. We could see how with time she made herself at home and now after having been with us for 5+ weeks, she is slowly being her true self around us which is so wonderful to see.

Foster Needed! Milo is a 4-year-old Border Collie/Blue Heeler mix, weighing approximately 60 lbs. He can be a little nervous at first, but once he warms up, he’s a friendly, loving companion who enjoys grazing in the grass and playing fetch.

Milo can struggle with being left alone for long periods, so a foster who is home often would be ideal as he adjusts to a new environment.

Milo is housebroken and needs to be the only pet in the home.

Adopter Needed for sweet Bella! Please share with your networks!

Earlier this year, one of our longtime Housecall participants passed away, leaving behind their beloved dog. Bella is a sweet old lady who is currently being fostered and is now ready to find her forever home.

Bella is a gentle, affectionate ~14 year-old pittie who loves people, belly rubs, and treats! She’s house-trained and is generally dog-friendly. She has some medical needs (joint pain, a history of UTIs, and skin allergies), but takes her meds easily.

She’d do best in a place with few stairs and with someone around often. She loves her people and has so much love to give! Please reach out to [email protected] if you're interested in adopting sweet Bella. And please share with your networks!
