Immigration News
The Trump administration on Friday ordered U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to suspend all asylum decisions following the shooting of two National Guard troops in Washington, D.C. This directive will trigger a review of past vetting and approval processes. The suspension applies to all asylum decisions, and in-person appointments for asylum seekers are canceled. The administration also rolled out two major changes that directly affect green card holders and applicants: a review of green cards issued to citizens of certain countries and the rollout of a new biometric entry and exit system for all non-U.S. citizens, including green card holders, as they enter and leave the country. This review could result in delays, requests for additional documentation, or changes in the status of some green card holders, depending on its findings. It is strongly advised to consult a lawyer before leaving the country or appearing in court.
