Canadian partnerships strengthening child health in Lao PDR 👶🏥

Canada thanks two Canadian charitable partners, the Ptarmigan Foundation and RAD-AID International for their generous and longstanding support to the Lao Friends Hospital for Children (LFHC) in Lao PDR. Together, their work is helping improve neonatal care, medical imaging, and clinical training for health workers across Laos. These advances reflect years of sustained collaboration focused on both lifesaving care for newborns and stronger diagnostic capacity for pediatric patients. 🩻

Through hands on engagement by Canadian experts in Laos, including training, donated equipment, and long term knowledge exchange, Ptarmigan and RAD-AID are strengthening LFHC’s capacity to deliver quality care for children and families. Their work demonstrates the tangible impact Canadians are making in Laos 🇨🇦🤝🇱🇦

4-year-old Leo, enjoying bedtime reading with the BEST storyteller in the world, his daddy!

You see, Leo in this picture just had surgery to remove a big tumor on his back. He's been an incredibly brave boy. He still has a long road to recovery, but Dad is helping make him feel normal again by making him giggle!

That's the magic that children show us adults... their imagination, especially through the pages of a book, through dad's silly voices. These are moments we love to witness.

Because even when life is asking so much of them, children show us the power of imagination, the adventures that live inside the mind when we read a great story.

On we celebrate exactly that. A child's superpower. The beautiful ability to be completely swept away into another world, no matter what this one looks like right now.

🕊️ In Loving Memory of Paul Baynham

We are heartbroken over the recent passing of Nurse volunteer, Paul.
Paul held Laos and the hospital dear to his heart. He always showed kindness, lifted the room with his smile, and cared deeply for every person he met. Paul devoted years of his own time to helping LFHC's Outreach Team since 2016. He's made a lasting difference in the lives of many children and families we serve across northern Laos. His impact will remain with us always.
To his family and loved ones, we offer our deepest condolences.

Paul is, and always will be, a cherished part of the LFHC and FWAB family.
