Embracing the journey as the destination, we're always learning and growing.

To commemorate Women's Heritage Month, we're proud to recognize the women weavers who have preserved this sacred Buyu weaving tradition.

This Friday, we invite you to be part of our next Buyu collection's pre-order launch.

Our journey has been long, but we're thankful for the wisdom we've gained.

We are honored to be manufacturing in the factory of a distinguished production partner in Brooklyn, New York, who has spent decades honing his craft as an apprentice of the legendary designer Oscar De La Renta.

His dedication to preserving traditional craftsmanship is inspiring. We're excited to share our Buyu designs, crafted in his factory, with you.

Come along and join us. Register on our website at www.buyucollection.com.

A decade ago, with a heart full of maturity and responsibility, I embarked on my transient journey to my home continent Africa. I found myself amidst a continent grappling with a duality, torn between its modern influence and its deep-rooted traditions.

This juxtaposition reminded me of the story of Santiago in The Alchemist, where the path to self-discovery lies not far from one's roots.

In an open-air Nairobi market, I stumbled upon a tradition as ancient as the old barter trade routes. This encounter sparked an idea: to revitalize this age-old weaving technique, preserving its authenticity while refining its form.

At Buyu, we have embraced this vision, transforming traditional Kenyan weaving practices into finely constructed Luggage and Handbags. These stylish yet functional creations seamlessly transition from city streets to game reserves, embodying the essence of Africa's rich cultural heritage.

The word Buyu means vessel - (One that carries.) in Kiswahili, named after the pods that carry the nutritious fruit seeds of the Baobab tree.

Doesn’t it feel like the world forced us into timeout? so we can think 🤔 about all the wrong things we have done to nature.

Buyu Carry on.
When you repurpose, life is regained.

The greatest misconception of man is that nature needs to be saved! Yet nature is more superior than we... we need to shift our thinking on this rhetoric because nature will always right itself, we live within nature not on top of it... our job is to find the most holistic ways to exist inside our host.

Buyu THE LUXURY OF NATURE.
