On this day in 1989: The Leather Pride flag debuted. Leather is a gay subculture heavily associated with kink and the B**M community, with leather bars typically frequented by ‘bears’ and older gay men. The flag was designed by prominent leather community member Tony DeBlase in 1989, presenting the flag at the International Mr Leather Convention in Chicago.
