🔊 National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week is here! 🏡🧼🧒
This afternoon, Chautauqua County Health Department joined community partners at Jamestown City Hall to kick off a week of action, awareness, and advocacy. 🧠💪
🗣️ “There is no safe level of lead in a child’s body,” said Dr. Paul Robbins. “This is completely preventable — it starts with awareness and action.”
⚠️ Did you know?
➡️ 80% of Chautauqua County homes were built before 1978 — before lead paint was banned.
➡️ An average of 60 children per year are diagnosed with lead poisoning in our county.
➡️ 8 out of 10 affected children live in rental housing.
💡 You can help protect kids:
1️⃣ Test your home for lead — Call CCHD at (716) 661-8243
2️⃣ Wash hands before eating
3️⃣ Wet-clean toys and surfaces
4️⃣ Feed kids iron-rich foods
5️⃣ Get your child tested at ages 1 & 2
📍Look out for our "Stepping Out for Lead Poisoning Prevention" teams in neighborhoods this week, sharing info and free resources!
