Because of your generosity, energy, and support, we raised over $1,000 to support and their Education Recovery Appeal, helping rebuild schools and uplift students and teachers affected by Hurricane Melissa.

Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica as a Category 5 hurricane, leaving several parishes devastated. Many schools have been destroyed, and countless youth have lost homes, supplies, and their sense of stability.

To support recovery efforts, the Northeast USA GJDYC, , , and are coming together for an evening of unity, fun, and purpose.

In light of the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa on communities across Jamaica, we regret to share that the Diaspora Youth Forum and the second iteration of the Youth Innovation Challenge have been cancelled.

Our hearts are with everyone affected during this difficult time. We extend our sincere gratitude to all who expressed interest, registered, volunteered, or supported these initiatives.

As recovery efforts continue, we encourage everyone to stay safe and remain connected with us for future updates, opportunities, and ways to support our communities moving forward.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, Jamaica faces a difficult road to recovery.

Our thoughts are with all those affected. Many in the diaspora are still waiting to hear from loved ones, and we stand in solidarity with everyone experiencing uncertainty and loss during this time.

As members of the Global Jamaica Diaspora Youth Council (GJDYC), we are reminded that our strength lies in unity. Even as we grieve, we act. Even amid hardship, we rebuild. The resilience of Jamaicans, both at home and abroad, continues to define us.

Following the tremendous response and engagement over the past month, the Global Jamaica Diaspora Youth Council (GJDYC) is hosting a second Townhall โ€” an opportunity to connect with our regional representatives, learn more about upcoming initiatives (including the Youth Forum in November), and explore ways to get involved with the Council. ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ฒโœจ

Overview:

The Global Jamaica Diaspora Youth Councilโ€ (GJDYC) was created in 2019, endorsed by the Jamaica Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade. GJDYC is youth-led platform that engages youth of Jamaican descent in Jamaica and around the worl-led and engages youth of Jamaican descent in Jamaica and around the world.
