Hallett Nature Sanctuary is a four-acre woodland tucked into the southeast corner of Central Park, just off 5th Avenue and Central Park South, with walking trails, a small waterfall that drops into the Pond, and benches set back into the trees.

Migratory birds pass through year-round, and it's one of the better spots in the park to just sit and watch. Closed for over 80 years as a bird refuge, it reopened in 2016 and is free to enter daily.

Most people walk past Belvedere Castle without knowing they can go inside. Completed in 1872 and perched on the second highest point in Central Park, it overlooks Turtle Pond with the Great Lawn stretching out to the north. One of the more surprising things you can do in the park, and it’s free.

Model sailboat racing on Central Park's Conservatory Water dates back to 1875. On any given weekend, you'll find skippers gathered at the water's edge, adjusting sails and reading the wind the same way they have for nearly 150 years. It's one of those Central Park traditions that exists completely on its own terms, unhurried and unchanged, in the middle of one of the busiest cities in the world.

From a rowboat on the Central Park Lake, the Manhattan skyline sits just above the tree line, and the crowds on Bow Bridge look like a painting. It’s NYC from an angle most people never find.

Most people don't know Central Park has a waterside picnic spot. The Pool is one of the park's quieter, more beautiful corners, and this Mother's Day we're setting full-service gourmet picnics right at the water's edge.

The package includes gourmet food and beverages, local cheeses, meats, and crudités, a decadent fruit and dessert platter, and a bouquet of tulips for mom to take home. Everything is set up before you arrive and cleaned up after you leave. All you do is show up.

Available May 11 only. Book the link in our bio.

Shakespeare Garden grows only plants and flowers mentioned in Shakespeare's plays and sonnets, and spring is when it really comes into its own. It's one of the quieter, more tucked-away spots in the park, and worth seeking out.

Turtle Pond has always been one of those spots that rewards you for slowing down, and this little green heron is a perfect example of why. Whether you’re stopping by this weekend or just dreaming about a visit, the pond is worth the walk.
