Rochdale Village is composed of 20 buildings, each with 3 sections, 13 floors. In addition, there are two shopping malls with parking lots, 11 cooperator parking lots (3,200 spaces) and a community center. This complex has its own power plant, its own post office, police precinct, 3 schools and is surrounded by other stores on Guy R.Brewer Boulevard.

Our Story

The Rochdale Village Civic Association represent more than 25,00 Cooperators in the World’s Second Largest Housing Cooperative. It is headed by the Hon. Clifton Stanley Diaz, its Founder and President. The Civic Association was created on February 2, 1995, to honor the Community work and Birthday of the Civic Association President’s mother, Ms. Gwendolyn Diaz Stanley. The Main Purpose of the Civic Association is to insure that Rochdale Village receive its “Fair Share” of City, State and Federal Government services, while is promotes the achievements of the Rochdale Village Community. Rochdale Village is a New York State Mitchell-Lama Cooperative Private Property Community Development situated on the old Jamaica Race Track site. Rochdale Village was built under the Administration of Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller. The community is composed of 20 buildings, each having 3 sections and 13 floors. It has its own Management, Public Safety, Maintenance and Power Plant Departments. The community has two beautiful shopping malls with parking, 11 cooperator parking lots (3,200 spaces) and a beautiful Ball Room in the community center. Rochdale Village has its own post office, police precinct and three public schools and is bordered by Bedell Street, 134th Road, 137th Avenue, Guy R. Brewer Boulevard and Baisley Boulevard. The cooperative is composed of a very large minority population (Black Americans, Caribbean Americans, Spanish Americans, Haitian Americans etc.) and is composed of a Senior Citien population of more than a 40 percent. Many of its residents are Middle Income and are Civil Servants and Union Employees. Rochdale Village is often referred to as the “Jewel of Jamaica.”

The Rochdale Village Civic Association conducts its monthly meeting on the Third Sunday of each month from 3 P.M. to 5 P.M. in the Building 10 Community Room situated at 170-44 130th Avenue, Rochdale Village, New York. You’re invited to bring a friend or neighbor. Be involved, be informed and be heard!
