Change comes in lots of slow ways so letās celebrate the wins when we can! Today is CT Paid Leave awareness day!
Hey Connecticut, did you know we have PAID LEAVE?
CT Paid Leave = income replacement when you need time off for:
š¶ a new baby
𩺠your own health / pregnancy + recovery
š¤ caring for a family member
š” adoption / foster placement
š”ļø safety + family violence situations
(And āfamilyā can include people related by affinity.)
Quick breakdown (because this confuses everyone):
FMLA = job protection (unpaid)
CT Paid Leave = income replacement (paid)
ā”ļø Many people use both together
ā
To fully protect yourself, there are 2 steps:
1ļøā£ Request CT Family & Medical Leave (CTFMLA) from your employer (job-protected leave)
2ļøā£ Apply for CT Paid Leave through the state (paid benefits)
Tip: Use CTFMLA when talking to your employer ā CTās law is more generous than federal FMLA.
And yes ā you might qualify even if youāre part-time:
⢠Part-time + multiple jobs can count
⢠You donāt apply through your employer
⢠Eligibility is decided by the state
