In 2010 there was a landmark settlement between the NYS Attorney Generals' office and Exxon Mobil that created the Greenpoint Community Environmental Fund. GCEF has brought millions of dollars to Greenpoint. Learn this important history in this new video as the project wraps up.

GCEF Film Debuts A short film on the history, accomplishments, and legacy of the Greenpoint Community Environmental Fund debuts at a screening at the GCEF-funded new Greenpoint Library and Environmental Education Center.

Beginning the week of December 6, 2021, DSNY will expand Curbside Composting to residents who signed up and were added to one of our efficient routes in the following Community Boards:

• Brooklyn Community Board 1 (Williamsburg, Greenpoint)
• Brooklyn Community Board 2 (DUMBO, Downtown Brooklyn, Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Brooklyn Heights)

Constituents receiving service will be contacted by the Department via text, email, and mail. Please encourage participants to start collecting their food scraps and yard waste so they can set out their bins for the first week of service.
