On Monday, we were so proud to co‑name this street in honor of Reverend Darlene Spurling Morgan, a great friend and community leader whose love, leadership, and unwavering devotion lifted our community for decades. Her name now lives on in the very place she helped strengthen.

Saturday, we gathered to honor Wilson Perez, a distinguished and dedicated member of our community and a proud veteran who devoted his life to uplifting his neighborhood. His commitment, humility, and unwavering love for the people around him have left a legacy that will continue to inspire. We proudly unveiled Wilson Perez Way on 89th St and Astoria Blvd, a corner that will now carry his name and his spirit forward.

Today we gathered to celebrate a pillar of our community. Veta Brome. A real estate owner, community activist, and generous soul, she poured her heart into her neighborhood, and the community that she loved. East Elmhurst will always remember you!

The sun was shining on Corona today as we honored two of our own, local heroes Michael Perna and Mike Laquori. A beautiful day to celebrate service, community, and the people who make our neighborhood stronger. Now 108th and 52nd Ave will be known as Michael Perna and Mike Laquori Way!

We closed the night out with my annual tree lighting ceremony, some Christmas caroling, and what else but some fireworks to brighten up the night sky.

A huge shout out to the Students from PS14Q Fairview who every year do an amazing performance under the leadership of Principal Benson, Ms. Lasso, and Ms. Ortega.

My district office featured an art installation, Christmas tree lighting, and a gingerbread house, made possible by liberty construction.

And to Vinnie Laucella of the Queens United Lions Club for the fireworks display.

A strong way to end the night and bring the community together.

And to the community I hold so close to my heart: while my time as your Council Member may be ending, my commitment to you never will. I’ll always be here celebrating, supporting, and standing proudly alongside you.
