Great to meet with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Region 2 Administrator Jason Loughran at Borough Hall yesterday, as we brainstorm innovative new ways to build more affordable housing here in Queens.

The housing crisis doesn’t care if you’re a Democrat or Republican. Our solutions should be nonpartisan too. Putting people over party to build veterans housing to expand opportunity zones in Queens is exactly what we aim to achieve, because the work must always come first.

Investing in the arts IS investing in education. And that’s exactly what we’re doing at LaGuardia Community College.

Couldn’t be prouder to deliver $2 million this year to upgrade the performing arts and media spaces here at LGCC, where the next generation of directors, dancers and more are being molded.

As one student put it yesterday, LGCC isn’t where young people learn about filmmaking. It’s where they become filmmakers.

The same is true for all our performers who grace the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center stages here — students whom I know Council Member Julie Won and I will always support however we can.

On the third anniversary of October 7, we stand with our Jewish neighbors in mourning all that was so viciously stolen by evil personified. And we recommit ourselves to the righteous fight against anti-Semitism in all its forms.

On this day, we also stand with our Muslim neighbors who have also endured unimaginable pain and loss over these same three years as well.

Because in The World’s Borough, we can grieve as ONE community for EVERY community impacted by the atrocities of October 7 and the horrors that have happened since that day.

Let our shared pain fuel our shared quest for peace.

A new cafeteria, specialized classrooms for arts programming, a green roof. This addition already means so much to this school community.
