190 countries are represented and 360 languages are spoken in Queens. But nothing unites our diverse communities better than fútbol.

Someone is taking this trophy home in a few weeks. But the true winner of the World Cup is The World’s Borough, where the fan experience is going to be off the hook.

See everyone at the watch parties! More news on those to come real soon.

Big things are happening in Queens!

From Willets Point to JFK to Governor’s Ball and beyond, what we’re building physically and culturally in The World’s Borough is unmatched.

Great to discuss why I’m so optimistic about the present and future of Queens at today’s summit at the New York Law School, alongside so many partners in that critical work.

LaGuardia Community College IS Queens.

Its student body is as diverse as our borough. Its success shaping the leaders of tomorrow is our borough's success.

It only makes sense that we co-name 29th Street in honor of LaGuardia Community College, a true pillar of higher education in Queens. Honored to have helped unveil the sign yesterday!

Attention, District 27 parents: 2-K applications are NOW OPEN!

Our parents need quality childcare. Our kids deserve quality early education. And we are delivering both, at no cost, for families here in Rockaway and South Queens in 2026, thanks to Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani and Governor Kathy Hochul.

For years, Rockaway kids like those from the Sheldon Weaver Child Care Center have been told to wait in the back of the line for services. That's why it's so vital that District 27 is the first in Queens to offer 2K seats — a feeling as good as Rockaway sand between your toes.

Looking forward to expanding 2K to every district in Queens in the years to come. But for D27 parents, you can apply today at www.myschools.nyc!

Couldn't be more excited to cut the ribbon today on PS/IS 208's new hydroponics lab, which I'm proud to have allocated $200K toward.

We're on a mission to put a lab in every Queen school, as it teaches our students invaluable lessons around food, agriculture and public service.

Our AAPI residents have played a tremendous role in shaping Queens into the dynamic and diverse place it is today. The World's Borough is thriving because of the countless cultures, cuisines and contributions this community represents.

It's a privilege to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month each May at Borough Hall, and yesterday's powerful event was no different.

Happy AAPI Heritage Month, Queens!

To the Queens College Class of 2026, always be open to knowledge and understanding. Always be open to change and taking chances.

There will be tragedy and triumph on your path ahead. There will be adversity and achievement. But walk that path with your head up, your eyes clear and your mind open. Because there is possibility and promise around every bend.

It was an honor to give your commencement address today. I can't wait to see all that you will achieve.

“None of us knows what lies ahead on our paths forward. But what I do know is that somehow, some way, each of you will make a difference in this world. And it’s a world I can’t wait to live in.”

A dedicated public servant and a native of Queens, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards has spent his career championing the diverse communities of “the world’s borough.” His path to leadership was forged in resilience; after witnessing the devastating impact of gun violence in his youth, he turned personal tragedy into a lifelong passion for civic reform. As Queens Borough president since 2020, Mr. Richards has been a tireless advocate for over 2.4 million residents during a pivotal era in New York’s history.

In recognition of his exemplary career, his unwavering advocacy for small businesses, and his generous service to the public good, we are proud to present Donovan Richards, Jr. with the Queens College President’s Medal.
