FYI:

NCC has just announced new steps they are taking to improve their property assessment process following a recent independent quality control review.

This review identified areas of improvement - including issues with property data and valuation models, especially for certain types of commercial properties - and the county has outlined steps they plan to take to address those findings and ensure that the next reassessment process runs much more smoothly and efficiently.

It’s a dangerous time of year for drivers! From mid to late October through November and on into December, there will be increased activity of white-tailed deer due to their annual mating season.

Deer are most active around dusk and dawn, which are also the very busy times for motorists on Delaware roadways

The latest figures from the Delaware Office of Highway Safety confirm that most deer-vehicle collisions in Delaware occur between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m., and spiking again between 5 p.m. and midnight. From 2021 through 2025, Delaware recorded 8,401 deer-related crashes, resulting in 312 injuries, 20 of them serious injuries.

OHS urges drivers to slow down, use high beams in dark and low-lit areas where there is no oncoming traffic, and expect groups – if you see one deer, more are likely nearby.

October 19th through October 23rd is National School Bus Safety Week. This reminds us all to do our part to keep children safe on their way to and from school. Please slow down, watch for school buses, and always stop when the bus lights flash and the stop arm extends. A few extra seconds can make all the difference in protecting our children.

Domestic violence may not always be obvious, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time for us to remind the world of the importance of uplifting the needs, voices, and experiences of survivors.

No one deserves to go through it alone. If you or someone you know is affected by domestic violence, help is available.

Visit dvcc.delaware.gov/ for a complete list of resources, including county-specific 24/7 domestic violence hotline numbers that can help survivors find immediate help.

The Delaware Task Force on Sustainable Transportation Funding wants to hear from you on how we should fund the future transportation needs in Delaware.

Governor Meyer's Executive Order No. 14 established the Delaware Task Force on Sustainable Transportation Funding to address long-term challenges impacting the state's Transportation Trust Fund (TTF). The task force is charged with reviewing the current and future condition of the TTF and recommending sustainable and reliable funding solutions and efficiencies to ensure Delaware's transportation infrastructure remains strong, resilient, and well-maintained for the future. The Task Force is chaired by the Secretary of Transportation and it brings together leaders from government, business, and labor to guide Delaware toward sustainable transportation funding solutions.

I have the honor to have been selected to serve on the Task Force.

🗣️ We want to hear from you 🫵

🛣️ Take the Delaware Transportation Survey as we look to shape the next 20 years of infrastructure investment in our state.
